Best 13* Fairway Wood

I have been playing a Taylormade RBZ TS 13* as my driver for about 4 years. However, I am now looking for something new. No good reason other than being a club ho.

 

Anyone have suggestions on newer clubs? Looking for both forgiveness, length, and being able to hit off the deck.

 

Clubs I have looked at are Nike Vapor Fly 3+, Callaway XR 16, Ping G Stretch 13, Callaway XR Deep (14*).

 

You dont see many of these around so I will likely buy blindly on eBay and take the risk.

 

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

The ping rapture strong driver is by far the best of this category.

M2 15 degree is as long as any 3 wood I've hit regardless of loft. Why not go with that, and have the extra 2 degrees to hit off the deck easier.

Ping g stretch has been nearly driver long for me, and really forgiving.

truthfully your playing one of the longest strong 3 woods ever made... and one of the easiest to control...i doubt you see any gains from any of the ones mentioned... If you want one more Tee orientated then the xhot 3 deep 13 is a good option ...

No doubt about it!...V-Steel T/S (Tour Spoon)

 

Easier to hit than many 15* 3-wood thanks to that unique V-Steel sole, and 2* stronger = more distance!

For me the M1 is great off the tee, but excels off the deck. It's not even funny how easy this thing is to launch. You could adjust the launch down to 13*, but with the distance you'll get at the standard 15* you might not even need to. I don't really use any of the adjustabities, but I liked it better than the M2.

LTD is the longest. Some say it's a little tougher off the deck but not if you already hit it high or have enough speed

I have a Cleveland DST Launcher 3 wood 13*. It's almost as long as my driver in distance.

It is easy to hit from a decent lie.

It all depends on your swing speed IMO. If you have a high SS, either stick with the RBZ or look at some that have already been mentioned. You should have no trouble elevating any of them from the deck. I'd stay away from the Callaway deeps unless you really don't have trouble elevating or are are primarily looking for tee performance. If you have a more average ss, look seriously at the TEE ex9. I had the tour and long versions of the 13° cranked down to 12° and STILL hit it very high and VERY long. It also felt really good.

I was also going to suggest a few tour edge exotics! Seriously. The XCG7 beta, E8 beta or the new EX9 are quite overlooked but as good as it gets. More forgiving and easier to launch than your RBZ t/s.

I just put together a Cleveland Mashie Tour 14* Fw (purchased on CPO cheap) with an Aldila NV75 that I had laying around. I've only hit it a few times but it should play nicely on holes with narrow fairways and have enough distance when the driver is acting up.

RBZ Stage 2 is a bomber. Hard to imagine getting much additional distance from anything else.

i just bought the ping G stretch off the BST here and absolutely love it, long and forgiving,

 

have not tried hitting it off the ground and prob wont because i never have the need to with the courses i live around.

 

only gripe is the stock ping stiff shaft that is in it. its only 65 grams and for a stiff feels way to wippy, will be looking to put a whiteboard in it in the near future

+1 for the Ping Rapture. Its a bomber. But sometimes difficult to find. I scored one in a local shop for $100 with a blueboard x-flex!

Not a single mention of the Titleist 915F 13.5 -- LOVE THIS CLUB -- Great off the tee and hit it almost 240+ off the fairway as well

Agree. XCG7 Beta 13* is awesome. Stock lie angle is 57* and stock length is 43". Set up really nice and can be had for great prices. Stock white/red/black tie shafts are solid.

Man you're bringing memories back with that club. It's such a beast both off the tee and fw! The t60 was such a good club too the deeper face made it easy to hit low bullets

Doesn't get a lot of love anymore but the Hibore XLS 13* was really easy to hit and plenty long. I have a 906F2 13 with a 83 redboard and it is a cannon off the Tee, but not really friendly to me off the deck.

I've got a 2Deep that's a bomber! Mine is 12.5*. I can actually hit it better off the deck that I can off of a tee (still can't figure that one out)! Anyway, it's definitely an option if you are looking for a long club!

M1/M2 is in the bag to stay right now. Tour Burner T/S was in the bag forever before that. M1 just has a solid thwack like the old steel heads of the late 90's. If you like the RBZ why not upgrade to the M1 and get the sliding weight to adjust your flight? I found it to be about 5% longer than my 2008 Burner TP going from 13° to M1 15°. Same launch angle, lower spin in M1, higher ballspeed in M1.

Anyone hit the Nike Vapor 3+? It is the only club that Charl Schwartzel has not swapped out to PXG yet so it must be a performer.

 

I'm going to go hit the M2 this afternoon. I'm curious to see what difference 2* makes off the tee compared to my RBZ TS.

 

Does anyone know if there is a T3 version of the M2? There is an M1 on eBay right now but never seen an M2.
