Item removed from eBay for counterfeit

I listed a Scotty headcover for sale on eBay yesterday. Instantly received offers and declined a few of them. This morning, my item was removed and I got a message from eBay saying that the item was counterfeit and had to be removed. I've attached photos and am wondering why it was removed? Is it because it says FTUO? Is it actually counterfeit? Anyone experience this before?

Wow. I never noticed. Bought it on eBay couple years ago. Thought it was real the whole time

Fake.

 

Looking at the photo with the velcro. The fakes have the rough side of the velcro sewn on the right side when looking into the cover just like in the first photo.

 

Authentic scotty covers have the soft side of the velcro on the right side (as to not scratch the face of a right-handed putter.

 

The other photo with the 3 covers are commonly faked designs. Also, I believe "tour only" covers don't come in scotty cameron plastic bag packaging.

I don't know, but would a pro really use something that says "For Tour Use Only" on it? That said, folks are trying to get $70 - $80 for Scotty head covers. My bro knowingly bought a counterfeit one for $9. Why pay $80.

Spent a few minutes on Alibaba and there are a lot of fakes. I'd never buy off ebay again anything popular and high end. I don't mind buying a fake that I know is fake. I bought a fake Rolex in China for $15.

Selling counterfeit goods absolutely is illegal. Condoning it is despicable.

It's funny and all, but the guy posts that he was "having the same issue can anyone tell if these are fake", then says he bought them for $5 and he's sure he can find someone willing to pay $20. Like he knew they were fake, he was just wondering if anyone would notice. These are the scum bags knowingly selling counterfeits on eBay, and he comes here to see if his are good enough to pass as real under the microscope of some experts. I hope his GolfWRX career is short lived.

FTUO covers don't come in bags. They are usually handed out to pros at tour events sans the bag.

 

Where did you buy them?! If it's eBay I would be very wary....

You guys all missed where he (Billtomhere) more or less said he knew they were fake, he just wanted to know if anyone here noticed. A few posters jumped on him, but apparently the mods deleted all of the posts other than his original.

 

I wouldn't worry too much about verifying these for him. He only joined to see if he could expand his fake Scotty headcover business from eBay to the BST.

Gotta protect the field as they say.

 

Thankfully if this newbie shoots some fakes onto the BST or eBay they will end up being yanked. Too many experts on here who will out him.

Perhaps the newbie could go rent a table at his local flea market.....
