Old Dudes rule!!! lol

Khaki pants

White Lacoste polo shirt (collar up)

Black belt

Black & White FJ saddle shoe golf shoe

optional....magnetic bracelet of some kind

conservative haircut

You gotta go with the copper bracelet that turns your wrist green. Now that's style.

LMAO, Maddie just took mine last week and threw it out, lol

Maybe I am out of touch and delusional and just don't realize it, lol

I loved that bracelet

My Best,

Richard

I think I saw mine the other day in my vanity drawer under my spare tube of toothpaste. :)

polish that baby up and go RETRO Bro!!

Oh lord, Richard's was disgusting!! I bought it for him as a B-Day present our second season Playing together so it was 14 years old and it was beyond polishing. He refused to get rid of it and he has so many beautiful bracelets however this bracelet and one that Cardoustie sent him are the only two that he wore. Up until now he thinks that I took it and tossed it when he went to surgery. I would never do that. It's in my dresser drawer and I'll give iut back but boy is it ugly, lol :) Maddie

I'm 42 and am a Marine (former active duty) so you can imagine what I like in hairstyles but you guys are seriously stretching it if you think his "boys" are busting his chops or if he is getting a bunch of flak. I can tell you right now if I showed up in Rio with a high and tight I would slay nothing. Personally I like the fact there are guys pushing the boundaries of fashion with golf. The whole cotton Hilfigers golf shirts and Khakis/Chinos is dead and SHOULD BE. If you want to bust his chops for the haircut then you need to be ready for the criticism you will receive for doing that. Have you seen Patterson on the beach volleyball team (USA 1). The dude has a mohawk...or is that acceptable because it's not golf? The whole idea in being a role model is to attract new and younger kids to the game and to say hey, it's ok to not look like your Dad. My 15 year old plays and he will roll with long socks and a flat bill but I can tell you right now when we show up at coursed the cart kids and younger pros go talk to him and give bro hugs before they acknowledge me. . I think if there is anyone in the sport who can cross cultural lines it's RF. Even if he finishes DAL he earned his way onto the team and is soaking up every minute. Good for Rickie. Comparing anyone to Hitler or Himmler is over the line. Even if it's about a hair style. Seriously. It's F*ing Hitler.

First it is just saying " the look" has Hitler's likeness. It is certainly not over the line!

Second are your son's long socks black too? How long is long? Almost knee high? I have seen that trend coming on in recreational sports (unfortunately) with long black socks and I think it is such a Raider- Bay Area thuggish look. Gosh help us if long socks are a new look that is coming to golf.

Not sure how I could support a Bronx NY break dancer "Look" taking over the course.....even though it never would happen at "Proper Courses ."

I love Rickie as a player and feel his personality is awesome, it is just he tries to hard to be SO Unique in his overall appearance. He is the exception and not the rule for future styles in my opinion.

Oh and how many "likes" did that Hitler comment get? ...many.

I've been noticing this mid calf black sock "bro" look on the course lately too. Whatever floats your boat I guess. All I can think of is that the tan lines must look absolutely ridiculous.

They look much better than the full tan calf/bright white foot combo haha

If we all wore our Golf Glove longer than we do, we wouldn't need to introduce ourselves as Golfers, people would know at first glance. :good:

LOL. Ive got the whitest feet on earth. But I haven't made it to the beach or a pool this year. I hate the feel of socks on my legs, makes my skin itch. Anyway at my age tan lines are the least of my worries.

I normally wear open toe sandals and flip-flops off the course, makes for funny custom tan lines.

For the life of me I cannot comprehend the mid-calf sock look

As compression socks, I don't think they are worn for the look...If they are indeed support socks.

But, if they are worn for the look, then I agree with you.

Serious question for those in the know:

For the "Ricky" cut, the "JarHead" cut and/or the "Frank Nobilo" beard..... are these something that require daily maintenance?

Generally, I'm looking for something that is lower maintenance.

Get a hair cut every six months and trim your beard at the same time. Very low maintenance.

This lovely thread just brought back a memory from a few years ago.

So this guy I know barely, joins our normal group, I have never played wit him before. He's good guy, married with kids, good job, in his mid 40's pretty conservative overall. He shows up dressed in head to toe full on Rickie Puma. Wide brim, Puma shoes, puma pants, belt shirt the whole deal.

The other 3 of us were like WTF?

We get to the parking lot afterwards and it just struck me how funny it was that a 40 year old Rickie poser was loading his clubs in a mini van.

Funny stuff.

Great story dlyg! A funny story involving Richard's former BB partner(the one that Sam backed for a run at the tour) occurred in 2012 when he came up from Fla to visit family as he and his brothers sold the family business in the early 2000's and he retired to Fla though his brothers stayed in Pittsburgh. Well, Chuck is 6'5", and back in the 80's when he and Richard partnered, he was 210 pounds, and though I did not know he or Richard then(I was going through puberty, hahaha), he was a very nice looking man. Think a much larger George Clooney, lolol. I met him and we have Played numerous times along with going out when we visited Richard's sis in Fla. As he is divorced, and so is my BFF Saffron, I was going to introduce them and the four of us were going to Play.

So Richard is on the tee with Saff and I and our backs are to the clubhouse and the Men's Grille, where the guys usually exit if they come out of the locker room, while Richard was facing the clubhouse and all of a sudden he gets this look of almost disbelief on his face and mutters, "aaah sh**," which obviously caused Saff and I to turn around. Walking towards us was Chuck.

While Chuck is no longer 210(he's 60yo and about 240) and he is by no means fat, he is just not as thin as he was in his 20-30's. He had on a skin tight pink/black Titleist shirt(though he now basically only Plays money matches, he still has an agreement with Titleist and they provide his clubs on them along with balls and some apparel. As I've stated before, class company), white pants with a white belt with a big "FJ" buckle and a white pair of FJ's, lol.

Saff, Paige and I have what we call the "34/34" Rule regarding the white belt and white pants: one should be under 34yo and under a 34" waist to wear either. Not only was Chuck past both barometers, the Medium(or so it looked) shirt on a XXL OR XXXL body gave him a little paunch that did nothing for the pants, lol. I turmed around to a loud "Maddie Baby" and he hugged me, lifting me up off of the ground then he and Richard hugged and as they are like brothers, Richard said "Bro, WTF's up with the white pants/belt", lol?

Chuck smiled this mega watt smile, turmed to Saff, put out his hand and said, "Hi, I'm Chuck and I'm a Playa, capital P," hahaha. Richard was laughing so hard he couldn't stand straight and I think that I was shocked as I had never seen this side of Chuck, lol. Saff, who is very laid back just smiled and put out her hand.

Well, it was Richard and I against Chuck and Saff and it was even up as while Chuck was no longer a +5.5-6, he was a +3.8 to Richard's +2.7 and I usally give Saff 1/2 to 1 a side. On the third hole, Chuck bent down behind his ball to look at his putt and we heard a loud tearing sound followed by "ahhh sh**" only this time it was Chuck saying it as he had torn the whole crotch out of his pants, front to back. Again, Richard was on the apron dying, lol. Well, He and I beat them by one on a great birdie putt by Richard on 17 and dinner and drinks were on them.

Oh, Chuck and Saff are still together. Please guys, remember the "34/34" rule. Take care :) Maddie

How old is everyone posting in this thread and do you all ever leave your houses? Hahahah Its just an undercut, you go to almost any barber in southern California and almost half the cuts will look similar....myself included. Looks a lot better than that mop he had for a while.

Lol seriously he's got the same haircut about 70% of guys in their 20's have.

ITT: old dudes who are out of touch complaining about a haircut

Since I'm an old dude who is outta touch, I needed to go on Urban Dictionary and look up **ITT**. Guess what came up?

forum

Best described as a torrent of little children running around in a minefield (users), some armed with weapons (moderators), forums are the flagship of internet discussion, spam, and flame wars.

Smaller forums tend to be more habitable, but the larger ones have many distinct and similar features. For example, within approximately seven seconds of the creation of a topic, you will have at least one reply, garunteed. Large forums also tend to spawn makeshift caste systems within themselves, and you're automatically a malefactor in the forum until you have a 4-digit post count.

A forum can sometimes be helpful, but normally they become a time consuming and frustrating thing if you pay too much attention to them.

When youngin's used to color their hair, like a rainbow, I still envied each and everyone of them. When the trend passes, they'll let it grow out or cut/shave it. At 16, you could clearly see down to my scalp, so I didn't have that option.

Further more, before I was 72, (in two weeks) I was your age. I tend to believe that those who are accused of being *outta touch* were never *in touch* to begin with.

I miss the little old man, in Rickie's commercial: "Hey Rickie, Custom fit"!

Thank you MD! I took that last month and Richard finally listened to his father and the other doctors and took the corticosteroids starting in May. He had lost 32 lbs and would not go on them because he didn't want to feel "bloated" due to the water retention(Ava overheard him telling me that he didn't want to look "like a chipmunk" with the bloated face and she said, "Daddie, you sound like mommy and her friends," lololol) however his appetite has picked up and he's eating at least one meal a day(he would go 2-3 days with no solid food, only IV nutrition) and has put on 25 lbs since May. He looks much better though to listen to him, he always looked good, hahaha. Have a nice week GD :) Fondly, Madison

It seems to me that it's the "not older" crowd that is getting defensive in this thread.

Geez, the fact that some don't like his haircut is just their opinion. Everyone is entitled to that. It doesn't mean they don't like the person, they just don't like the style. That's why there are different styles. Different strokes for different folks.

I really don't think I read a single derogatory term about Rickie the person, just his haircut.

No it's just funny seeing them acting like they're so shocked to see this haircut but if they spent any time around people between the ages of 15-30ish they would see this same haircut on at least 50% of the guys.

Thankfully hair grows and people's idea of what looks good changes over time. I have one minor child left at home who in getting ready for her senior year came home last week with her hair dyed a very pretty blue. Her BFF is sporting purple hair. It surprised me as this daughter is (I thought anyways) fairly conservative. I think it was like two guys talking each other into getting tattoos. I doubt it will last very long so all I could do was smile and told her she looked pretty.

BTW, back in the mid-60's I thought of myself as a SoCal surfer dude and thought some peroxide would make my brown hair look blonde and cool. Didn't know that it turns brown hair bright orange, so I had to live with that for a while.

The fact that Rickie is at the games being all patriotic makes me like him even more.

No they don't. Wearing socks to mid calf with shorts looks stupid. Yes, golfers get white feet, but nobody sees that on the golf course. But we do see "bros" trying to hard to look cool with socks pulled up.

Agreed. A half white calf and feet certainly looks more ridiculous than just the feet. I suppose these are the guys that wear the same socks with sandals. Ironic that the kids wear the same look as the nursing home set.

Completely OFF TOPIC:

Looking good in that avatar, Richard.................Real Good!

Keep on chugging along my friend.

She exaggerates, lol

I wasn't that consumed with my looks, lmao

However I am really glad that if I'm looking at you you cannot tell that I am basically blind in my left eye(I'm 20/200, legally blind is 20/210). The nerves are not comprimised so I can shift my eyes, I just see nothing except greyish/black. I can tell a lit room from dark if I close my right eye. When I'm finished with radiation/chemo they are going to try one more surgery to try to "salvage" some vision.

The odds aren't great but WTF, what were the odds of Jim posting a 58 yesterday, haha

Have a great week :)

Fairways & Greens My Friends,

Richard

In the end, only three things matter~

How much that you loved...

How mightily that you lived...

How gracefully that you accepted both victory & defeat...

GHIN: Beefeater 24

I'm convinced 90% of the 500 or so USA athletes have no idea who he is. They probably think he's a bow n' arrow shooter.

You got that right!!!

Commmme onnnnnn, Richard!

Everybody exaggerates...........except YOU! :taunt:

I've known about your eyesight from the start, and you're right, we can't tell from pics. If salvage doesn't work, at least y'all tried. I'd doubt very much they would even suggest it, if there was no hope.

What I seem to notice from our exchanges, is that you might/may have an undiagnosed hearing issue...........You don't seem to LISTEN too well.

Hey, when you're MIA more than three days..............I worry!

All my best to you, and all of yours.

I don't really think that you're gonna find any "old" dudes in this thread who were seriously complaining. It's no different than if guys are sittin around the table in the 19th hole and we're givin each other s***.

It's all in good fun. Noone tries to make a light hearted topic into a serious discussion. No one sprinkles in PC to ignite an arguement. And regardless of our ages, we keep it light and in the vein that it was intended.

There may be "old" dudes who are out of touch, just as there are young dudes in the same boat sittin on the same porch, but they ain't in this thread.

Good lookin is good lookin and the kid is goid lookin so his hair cut is irelevent, lol

Have a nice week Bro and don't lose faith in the "old" guys just yet, lol

Some of us come off the porch and don't give a s*** who crosses the front yard, haha

Fairways & Greens 4ever My Friend,

RP

Why don't people get this? Everyone always thinks locker room talk is sitting around insulting 'other' people. 90% of it is busting the balls of your friends and insulting them in a fun way.

If Ricky was in our group I can assure you we would be busting his chops to his face, and he would know it was all in good fun.
