I'm 42 and am a Marine (former active duty) so you can imagine what I like in hairstyles but you guys are seriously stretching it if you think his "boys" are busting his chops or if he is getting a bunch of flak. I can tell you right now if I showed up in Rio with a high and tight I would slay nothing. Personally I like the fact there are guys pushing the boundaries of fashion with golf. The whole cotton Hilfigers golf shirts and Khakis/Chinos is dead and SHOULD BE. If you want to bust his chops for the haircut then you need to be ready for the criticism you will receive for doing that. Have you seen Patterson on the beach volleyball team (USA 1). The dude has a mohawk...or is that acceptable because it's not golf? The whole idea in being a role model is to attract new and younger kids to the game and to say hey, it's ok to not look like your Dad. My 15 year old plays and he will roll with long socks and a flat bill but I can tell you right now when we show up at coursed the cart kids and younger pros go talk to him and give bro hugs before they acknowledge me. . I think if there is anyone in the sport who can cross cultural lines it's RF. Even if he finishes DAL he earned his way onto the team and is soaking up every minute. Good for Rickie. Comparing anyone to Hitler or Himmler is over the line. Even if it's about a hair style. Seriously. It's F*ing Hitler.

Rickie's look is very in and trendy. I take it most posters in this thread don't know that. I guess they're spending too much time on their porch yelling at kids to notice.

Says the guy that just made the same unfortunate decision.

I don't wear the hairstyle.

You're welcome to your opinion but I don't really understand why someone on golfwrx would start a thread telling another man how to wear his hair.

Bro, it's a light hearted thread and Dlyg's a great Dude. He doesn't trash people and I don't think that he was telling the Rickster how to wear his hair-

We're just messing around

Have a nice week :)

All the Best,

RP

Both you and the OP are getting a little defensive. I think it's juvenile to start a thread making fun of guys haircut. That's all.

You can carry on now.

Yep, I get defensive when I find someone is offensive, lol

Always

And you're damn right right I can carry on

Always

Ya gotta love this virtual world s***, huh, LMAO

Fake UNs, fictitious avatars and passive aggressive phrases that would never ever be chirped belly to belly

Yeahhhhh Babyyyyyyy, LMAO

Stay well :)

RP

It seems to me that it's the "not older" crowd that is getting defensive in this thread.

Geez, the fact that some don't like his haircut is just their opinion. Everyone is entitled to that. It doesn't mean they don't like the person, they just don't like the style. That's why there are different styles. Different strokes for different folks.

I really don't think I read a single derogatory term about Rickie the person, just his haircut.

It looks better than the stupid flat bill we normally see on his head.

And yet, those wearing the "stoopeed" flat bill will tell you that IT is a Golf Cap. The curved thing is a Baseball Cap. The netty curved thing is a Trucker's cap, you get the gist.

On the course, I wear a Tilley LTM8, otherwise I'm bareheaded (as in bowling ball bald)

First it is just saying " the look" has Hitler's likeness. It is certainly not over the line!

Second are your son's long socks black too? How long is long? Almost knee high? I have seen that trend coming on in recreational sports (unfortunately) with long black socks and I think it is such a Raider- Bay Area thuggish look. Gosh help us if long socks are a new look that is coming to golf.

Not sure how I could support a Bronx NY break dancer "Look" taking over the course.....even though it never would happen at "Proper Courses ."

I love Rickie as a player and feel his personality is awesome, it is just he tries too hard to be SO Unique in his overall appearance. He is the exception and not the rule for future styles in my opinion.

Not criticizing you, just throwing this out there. Most people I've seen wearing Knee-highs are actually wearing support socks. A lot, that we don't see, are wearing them under slacks.

As a Rule, men pros can't wear shorts, but who's to say none of them are wearing support socks?

Should you need help getting rid of the knee-high, thigh-high obsession, go feast your eyes in the *Argonne69* LPGA thread.

I've been noticing this mid calf black sock "bro" look on the course lately too. Whatever floats your boat I guess. All I can think of is that the tan lines must look absolutely ridiculous.

FWIW, I've got absolutely no problem with his look as there are three things that I have always liked about Rickie from the the first I've heard of him-

1) he is a Gentleman and always displays Class and Dignity, even when it is not the the most opportune time and the easiest or most convenient response to take.

2) He is an Individual and not a blind sheep.

3) He's a Playa

Seriously, who gives a s*** how he had his hair cut???

In 2 months it could be a totally different look-

He's at an event with other young people, many guys I saw with similar hair cuts to Rickie's and/or different from the "average" hair cut and it's a once in a lifetime event and he's having fun.

As far as someone on WRX starting a thread about a man's haircut, seriously????

All the stuff that have spawned threads and someone chirps about a "man's haircut" as though what, that's "unmanly" to comment, lmao??

Ok skippy, you secure little animal ;)

It was enough bring 4+ pages and 90+ responses so it's a great thread, regardless of one's opinion on the subject.

You don't like his thread, start your own thread-

Seriously, pick a subject and start a thread and see how long it runs-

Yea, that's what I thought, LMAO

It's a friggin haircut, LMAO

Have a great week Gents :)

1. Thank you for your service.

2. I really have no issue with Rickie in general, I think it's great he is bringing young people to the game

3. I hope Rickie wins the gold. USA! I just hope his hair grows out a bit before he stands on the podium. :)

4. I have no problem with people dressing stylish, and I haven't wore true chinos on the course in 10 years. Long black socks? Not for me but I get it. Although when I was a teenager we wore long white tube socks with stripes on the top. (Think Dr. J in the ABA) and I wouldn't be caught dead wearing them now. And yes I sported a mullet for a while in the 1980s. But hey the chicks dug it.

5. Certain styles IMO work better for teenagers but need to be avoided by adults or you just look like a poser. Rickie is still young enough to pull it off I suppose.

6. I started this thread after seeing a article on a national website and it was people on Twitter that were blowing Rickie up, I just thought it was funny. I in no way imagined thought anyone would find it offensive.

7. I understand that this retro 1940s hair style is in vogue, but Rickies version seems a little over the top

8. Let's lighten up on the nazi comments, although several weeks ago I commented to a coworker that it was odd/ironic that all the young kids were getting Hitler youth haircuts. If you look at old pics it was the style from that era but accusing anyone of being a Nazi is ridiculous. But yes it was the common hairstyle favored by many socialist and communist leaders from the 1930s and the 1940s in both Nazi Germany's and Maoist China.

9. I have good friends who like to dress stylish and have crazy hairstyles. They would be disappointed if I didn't bust thier balls a bit. It's all in good fun. But maybe my friends aren't snowflakes. Anyway they find reasons to bust my balls for totally different reasons.

10. Hope you all have a great rest of the weekend and play well.

I've been noticing this mid calf black sock "bro" look on the course lately too. Whatever floats your boat I guess. All I can think of is that the tan lines must look absolutely ridiculous.

They look much better than the full tan calf/bright white foot combo haha

LOL. Ive got the whitest feet on earth. But I haven't made it to the beach or a pool this year. I hate the feel of socks on my legs, makes my skin itch. Anyway at my age tan lines are the least of my worries.

For the life of me I cannot comprehend the mid-calf sock look

Probably team issue.

It explains the haircut though. Rickie was probably feeling a little out of sorts with a curved brim so the haircut was compensation.

Go Rickie. I want him to win the gold!

Speaking of the course it looks windy and very linksy in a tropical sort of way. It may play like the Open with warmer weather and large rodents.

My take away from this thread:

It is cool to have have your head with no hair and the other half with hair.

That good news for me as I have a reverse Fowler and it is all natural.

Reverse Fowler - funny. I have to buy tapered clothes too. Mine taper the other way though.

Serious question for those in the know:

For the "Ricky" cut, the "JarHead" cut and/or the "Frank Nobilo" beard..... are these something that require daily maintenance?

Generally, I'm looking for something that is lower maintenance.

Depends on how your hair falls. Some guys can probably hop outta the shower run a comb through add a dab of product and be out the door in 2 minutes, others may need a little more of a routine.

I currently have a short beard, but longer than the Nobilo stubble look.

You need to run a beard trimmer with a guard over it every day or two, and you have to shave the neck region daily. Neck hair is a bad look unless you want to go full hipster.

No they don't. Wearing socks to mid calf with shorts looks stupid. Yes, golfers get white feet, but nobody sees that on the golf course. But we do see "bros" trying to hard to look cool with socks pulled up.

As for Fowler, he's 27. He's starting to get a bit old for the trendy looks.
