Ever had a deal...

You need to hit the BST. To truly fit in here you will need to buy things you don't need, bag them for a week, hold them for 5 months or so, and then sell them at a loss.

Just a word of warning though....

If you manage to find a bargain on the BST keep it to yourself and don't go bragging about it until after you pulled the trigger. There are some really losers around who will snipe your deal right from beneath your nose. : )

Seriously, check out the BST if you need anything golf. Great sellers and great deals abound. Would rather buy there than eBay to be honest.

I don't need anything.

I have:

Driver: Callaway XR Pro 9.0°

Mini Driver: Callaway Big Bertha Mini 1.5 14°

Wood: Adams Tight Lies Titanium 3+ 13.5°

Irons: Mizuno MP-29 1&2 Iron

Mizuno MP-4 3-PW

Wedges: Topflite Tour 58°/8°

Nexxt 56°/60°/64°

Putter: Wilson Staff 8802

Where am I lacking? I have 18 clubs.?

Gotta have at least 4 drivers, 8 wedges and a ping putter(or copy of a ping; which is all other brands)

Im kidding....

Mostly

Ok, going to help the new member and my newest friend on here out.

First off you can't have too many clubs. Ever. Not so much a "need" as much as a "got to have" sort of thing.

Now, sure, you hit the snot outta your current clubs but I promise you that you can hit it further. You just need to keep buying stuff seeking that perfection.

Finally, 18? You need about 10 more in order to really seal your membership here.

All kidding aside. Play whatever you enjoy. Enjoy what you play. Really just that simple.

I have obsessive collector covered in other pastimes. I really don't need any more clubs to learn how to hit. The addition of drivers and woods and mini drivers has really slowed things down. Now I have clubs that throw mistakes out of this world as opposed to fifty to seventy yards in front somewhere. The 1&2 were enough of a challenge for a little bit. I haven't turned the corner on them yet. The 3-PW is starting to fall into line, but I'm still fighting discomfort at times and it shatters my focus and my swing falls apart.

i cant follow this thread...whats going on ??? did something occur or is this all hypothetical ?

I will add my 2 cents... here in the bible belt its called " praying about it " when you mull over a deal.... its also akin to "looking a gift horse in the mouth " ...... But my favorite is to say "shat or get off the pot!"... in other words hodl your cards close , buy a good deal when you see it , not the next day.... and if you dont know if its a good deal or not the best way to learn is to buy it and either win or loose.... dont ever tell anyone about it .. why ? because its fair game until you pay for it

Until it's bought and paid for it's fair game. If you don't want it sniped be very careful about the details you provide and the source if it's not a private deal.

Driver - Callaway Elyte X, Elyte Mini 11.5
Woods - Callaway Elyte Titanium 5W
Hybrids - XXIO 13 3H, 4H, 5H
Irons - TM P790 ('25) 7-G (52*)
Wedge - Callaway Opus 58*
Putter - LAB Mezz.1
Ball - Callaway Chrome Tour Triple Diamond

I don't ever post a great deal until I have already purchased what I wanted regarding the deal.

Even when you are careful nothing is (sadly) guaranteed.

I was working on getting myself a nice 4 wood to match my driver. Found one on eBay and it was CHEAP. No one interested in it. So I attempted to snipe it and unfortunately lost. Someone else pegged a higher bid.

Wonder if I should post a WTB for that one. They aren't too popular and I can't imagine anyone having one laying around that they want to part with.

You never know what someone might have laying around!

Ok so this thread is the child of a question which arose from the $72 x2 hot driver thread. I said it was probably not a good idea to broadcast a deal on the forum because someone might beat you to it. Someone else disagreed and dared me to ask if this had happened, so I did.

Well, I didn't actually dare you. I said it would be interesting to see if it had indeed happened and that I had not read a thread indicating that it had. I honestly thought that if someone were burned like that by a fellow member they would out them faster than.....well you outed me.

But I guess I was wrong.

I have seen bunches of "hey is this real" threads on the DOND and never once saw a thread started about having asked about something being real only to have another member snatch it up. I still find that part interesting because if I came here, asked about the validity of a deal, and someone else took the opportunity to buy it out from beneath me, well:

1. I guess I would have deserved it because the early bird yada yada yada....

2. I would easily move on because odds are I WANTED but did not NEED the item - huge difference.

3. I would probably start another thread about what happened to warn others - because surely based on the DOND threads asking for assistance on items that are on eBay and are available for anyone to snipe, I cannot be the only one who thought that if this sort of snipery is happening it's rare and uncommon.

But I digress. There wasn't so much a "dare" (or even a double or triple dog) as it was a "hard to believe" sort of a scenario.

As Paul Harvey used to say, "And that's the rest of the story...."

Only tell others about the good deal you got after purchase. Like telling your buddies about a hot girl at a club and one of them hits on her before you.

Not sure what all you do w/your clubs, but no, I don't think those are very much alike.

Now that is funny.

There was an ad Di 6x (or 7) on eBay and I posted it in deal or no deal because I wasn't interested in an X. Less than 10 minutes later it was purchased. Granted it had TM graphics and the price was ridiculous like $20 shipped but nobody even said good look or thanks (I didnt really care). There were about 3-4 people saying man that didn't last but I never figured out who got it.

So the answer is yes. I was thinking about just buying it and flipping it but decided to just let someone on here get it.

I think it would be a weak move to buy something from someone questioning validity but whatever...the funny thing is that one of the reasons why so many people post is this real "after" purchasing, and then having people complain about why did you buy it first, is a direct consequence from the fear of someone buying the club from under them lol.

Got to ask. Weren't you at least tempted to out the known buyer?

Something simple yet honest and to the point like:

Hey MEMBER NAME, hope you enjoy that shaft I asked about. Nice of you to snipe it away from me.

Granted his reply, well founded based on the replies in this thread, would probably be "You snooze you lose". But would have made for an interesting thread when one member pretty much screwed over another and got called out for it. Those sorts of threads on here make for some interesting reading - everyone loves to heat up the popcorn afterall.

Haha not really. I couldn't hit the shaft so I was passing the deal along to anyone looking for the shaft. I could see if I was asking for a validity check and then someone just bought it and didn't say anything but I actually wanted someone on WRX to buy it. I just thought the buyer would have said something about it

Funny thing is that this place is SO powerful - so many visitors.

I posted a link good for an Ogio bag for 50% off. I could not use it so I figured someone could. Within 5 minutes it had been used. Cannot help but wonder how many people (perhaps not members???) prowl around here just to grab some awesome deals.
