My apologies for derailing again, but this will change as soon as the soccer audience gets big enough. You see it in all sports that grow in popularity. i.e. March madness. There are so many commericals in March madness the players get a timeout every 3 times down the floor. Even though the clock doesn't stop in soccer, they will just do what they do with autoracing, picture in picture commericals or just cut away completely. They need to pay for the broadcast somehow.

 

When it gets big enough? It has the biggest audience in the world by far

 

It makes sense. Many underdeveloped countries dont have the means for equipment/facilities for football, baseball, hockey. And historically, soccer is a worldwide sport whereas the US has it's own history that has contributed to the popularity of our main stay sports.

 

Continued immigration will keep soccer growing here and that's a fine thing. And, like you, some people get into soccer/turned off by American sports. Like my brother in law, After all these years, he decided he is a soccer guy and hates our sports.

 

But, football isn't going anywhere anytime soon ; )

I think Anquan Boldin was a better player than Fitz, but couldn't agree more. If Fitz was on a good team for much of his career it would have been simply amazing to see what he could have done.

Anquan was smart enough to get out of AZ when the money was elsewhere. He also has a ring or two.

Kurt Rambis is an interesting pick. Care to elaborate, or is it just that he was a fabulous gritty player for the great Laker Show Time teams?

 

Think that is a pretty good explanation of it. Add the rec specs and you got a guy who looked like he shouldn't be there but he was willing to do whatever it takes. I wish the kids I coach could see guys like Rambis and Rodman (Piston days) get after it.

Baseball is played by overpriced no talent players. 20 to 19 isn't a baseball game. Era close to 3 runs a game shows me they can't play. Their is always a few who are good but most are just minor league players.

 

Football is a joke. way too many commercials. Far too many opinion shows. Players dancing for making a tackle. NFL doesn't care about the players. Too many become retards after they retire. Again over paid to play.

 

Basketball is by far the worst. How come most teams can't score 100 points a game? Its not cause they know how to defend. They can't shoot. It used to be only the big players like Jordan would get away with traveling and walking almost every time they shoot. Now most of the league gets away with it. You might as well watch a game in the ghetto rather than your pro game. Its the same but way cheaper. Again over paid to play

 

Hockey is by far the better sport. Sad they play a p***y game now. (European style) Shoot out is so stupid. Rules made to stop fighting only make it cheap shots now the norm of the league. Sad but only a chosen few get paid well. the rest just get their brains beat in.

lol. I agree sports have changed to accomodate the offense. It is all about how many HRs there are, how many points are on the board, etc. Only a few hardcore fans enjoy a defensive struggle anymore.
