+1 on this^^^ I absolutely love my 716 t-mb. I put a tour ad 95x driving iron shaft in it and it's a bomber! Straight mid flight bullets. Probably the most reliable club in my bag!

I've gamed Mizuno mp-14 2-pw for 16 years and loved the 2 iron. Just purchased a set of MP-15 3-PW and thought I'd add an extra wedge but the set up never felt right. On holes where I'd use a 2 iron I felt limited by the 3 iron (distance). I recently purchased a MP-H5 2 iron with the shaft as my MP-15 and I could not be happier. The MP-H5 just bores through the air. Ive used it only one round so far and have not missed the fairway and out drove others with metal woods. It sounds great and soft when struck well.

 

Its all preference, but I'd recommend trying it out. Its also cheaper than other 2 irons as Mizuno considers it a single iron like a set. About $150-160.

What he said? I have been gaming a MP-H4 2 iron for a couple of years. Paired with a Steelfibre 110X, it is a rocket. I can hit any shot. Its my go to whenever I absolutely need to find the short grass. And I can hit it from any lie. It's literally point and shoot, as long I my alignment is correct. 230+ off the tee and almost as long from the grass. A little thicker top line then I like, but it's performance quickly makes it a non issue!

I've been itching to try a T-MB 2 Iron out, have a 712U that I can put out there like 230-240ish on those tricky fairways. But have always been fascinated with that 2 iron. Never really hit the T-MB, any major differences between it and the 712? Noticed the obvious tungsten sole and maybe a slightly thinner top line. What do you guys think about its flight and feel compared to a 712?

I have both the 712u and the T-MB 2 irons. I'm a big 2 iron guy, have always played one, and have tried pretty much everything out there. C-taper x's in both.

 

To me, the T-MB is a little easier to hit off the ground, but the 712u is just a borderline perfect golf club. Less spin than the T-MB, better trajectory, slightly better feel. Maybe a little less forgiving, and both clubs are excellent, but to me the T-MB was a downgrade, albeit a small one. For higher swing-speed players I've heard that's a common perception.

Mizuno H4 was best 2-iron I ever gamed as well. I've got two other driving irons now that are superb, but H4 was in a league of its own even with the wrong shaft in it for me

I got my 690 2i regripped last week and had to listen to the guy at PGA store joke about butter knife this butter knife that. And how he hasn't seen one for quite some time. Always that perception about 2i and how they aren't played anymore. For me, its consistent and I always want one in the bag to find fairways. Something about grabbing my 2i that gives me confidence even if I wasnt feel good about my swing with my driver.

I'm the same way, I use mp33 3 and 4irons both bent 3degrees strong with 93x blueboard shafts in them 1.5 inches over length. I use them off the tee often they are very easy to elevate with the graphite. I can't stand the look of tmb or idi irons they're way too thick looking.

I love the Vapor Pro Combo 2 iron at 18 degrees. I can get it off the deck or from the rough even. More importantly, I love the AMT X100 shaft in it. It's light weight yet flights the ball perfectly for me. Definitely changing my tee game on windy days and tight fairways.

I went through a testing of a number of 2 irons recently and went with a Mizuno MPh5 with a Project X 6.0 shaft. I'm very happy. Gets it out there 240-250 and since it's so much more predictable than my driver, I use it on quite a few tight par 4's and 5's. Probably the best club in my bag.

From the ones i've tried, the srixon is an absolute bomber, consistent as hell, love the flight, but the bulge at the back is probably the only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger on it (that and being a mizuno fanboy). So for now, I'll keep my mp4 3 iron bent down to 19* for my fairway finder, As much as it is a butter knife blade, i get a weird sense of confidence pulling this from the bag, and I've been known to leave driver in the bag for whole rounds if I dont feel like the driver is gonna get it done, just because i have the security blanket of my mp4 2/3 iron.

Post a picture of your mp4 iron! For me, I really like the turf interaction with a bladed 2 iron vs these driving irons. I realized that, after buying an TM UDI. Also don't like hybrid light shafts for a 2i. Steel all the way.

 

It's hard to find brand new updated 2i blades. I'm hoping my next set of blades (hopefully this fall when new sets come out) will have the option of a 2i to go along with.

If you don't want the bulge in the back, you probably won't care too much for the MP-H4 then.

I'm a big fan of my 712u 2 Iron. It is the only club that has not been changed out of my bag in the past 3 years. On days I'm fighting duck hooks with my driver or 3W, it is my go to. Off the tee it carries a reliable 260 yards, almost regardless of which swing I show up to the course with. I have had several rounds where that club has saved my confidence for the round.

I would say the MP h5 2 or 1 iron. Nice hotness and thicker sole. If price wasn't an issue the fourteen Hi-877 is a bomber. It's a Great mix of hottest off the face while still feeling a touch solid.

 

If you like the thinner soles, the uDI, 712U or T-Mb would all work.
