It's always nice when the shot in the dark works out

So through a debacle of a mis-order by my wife, I ended up with a a little over $100 in credit at Proozy, and I took a complete flyer and ordered a Yonex I-Ezone TX driver. (that name just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?) I had a Yonex driver years back that was a pretty good stick for me, so I said the heck with it and bought it.

Holy Crap.

It showed up, and it's a really sharp looking club, with a smaller footpprint that I would equate to the 430 R15 size-wise, and a deeper face than anything I've hit lately. It's shafted with a Yonex proprietary "Nanometric" shaft, which let's face it, sounds like it's from Star Wars so it has to be good, right?

Anyway...I took it out this past weekend to see how it compared to my XR, hitting both on the range, and then both on the course. Wow. The XR is out of the bag. This thing is a cannon when it's squared up correctly, and was rolling out to between 10 and 15 yards longer than the XR. I'm not a big hitter, so it was a really pleasant surprise. What surprised me was how well the "less than perfect contact" moments went. I didn't miss a fairway by more than a couple of yards all day with the Yonex, which was nice. Overall, it's longer than what I was hitting, and I was consistently hitting fairways. 3 rounds in, I'm digging it.

Anyone else put something in the bag on a wild leap of faith and have it actually work out?

Bought a GBB Heavenwood for old times sake and liked it so much I bought the driver a week later. As a man who has wasted much money on drivers through the years to no good purpose, I now feel as if I have won the lottery. Chanced into my best buy in 50 years of playing.

There is a reason people keep buying JDM Japanese Domestic Market stuff,

I had a Yonex Ezone 9 degree earlier this year, but needed the 10 or higher.

Yonex is the real deal. I've played the 380 cc driver and the 3 wood to match your driver all last season and both are great clubs. The 380 is the longest driver I've ever played. But small size is unforgiving. You can't beat the sound and forged feel though. Makes the big name oems look like junk.
