Higher launch shaft than Ping Tour 65...

I like everything about my driver except I would like to launch it a little higher. What reasonable price shaft might I look at to try? No I have not been on a launch monitor lately and won't be able to for a while...

Well, the stock shaft launches higher than the Tour 65...

You don't mention what driver you are using, nor the loft. But assuming that you are using either the G30 or the G driver, the stock shafts in those are a LOT better than previous Ping stock offerings. A LOT better. I went to my G30 fitting assuming that either the Tour 65 or a premium after-market shaft was going to be the shaft that I ended up with. To my surprise, the stock shaft outperformed everything else easily.

So if you dismissed that shaft without trying it, you might want to rethink it. I was told by two different club guys (one a Ping fitter, one not) that Ping had put a lot of money and research into the 419 shafts. At least for me, it shows.

All of that said, if you don't like the launch of your driver, the loft of the head is a much better thing to look at than the shaft. For most of us, the shaft is a tweak; the head makes the difference.

One thing to realize is that the regular Ping shaft is longer than the Ping Tour shaft. If you make the switch you may have to chop it down a little.

JJack, IMO you can never go wrong with the ol' Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue 65 for higher ball flight. acquire a new Ping adapter for it and you'll have 2 shafts. if you'd go find the earlier generation shaft out on the interweb, probably be into the whole thing put together with a new grip for +/- $80.

(other nominees would be Aldila's ATX Tour Blue, or possibly an earlier gen of Mitisubishi's Fubuki)

Probably closer to $55... there are plenty on eBay for $54, already build with the adapter.

Both of these were the first that came to my mind, too. The Prolaunch Blue is such a great shaft but I thought the Aldila had a little better feel, and maybe a little higher flight for me. Both great suggestions though! Rockbottomgolf had a sick sale on the Grafalloy shafts recently... I picked up two red 65s for $9 each!! They were short on stock of the Blues but may be worth checking again.

I picked up a new DVS for a great price... We shall see. I love being able to test different shafts at the range.

Your could try the tour 65 in reg, they are both pretty stout. The ping website says the reg should launch a little higher.

the stock ping shaft is an aldilla blue ATX ( or very close)....and ping tour shaft is UST elements.....

I knew the Tour was a UST, but the 419 is close to the Tour Blue? Interesting... I have the 419 in an X and it felt surprisingly good. Just pulled the tip on it today but I may have to grab another and give it a try.
