Ping Vault Bergen Review

Took my new Ping Vault Bergen out today for the first time and I thought I'd give my thoughts.

 

Looks - For a large mallet it is very sleek looking. Fit and finish are flawless. It's a expensive putter but now that I've rolled it, it's well worth it. The alignment line running from the face all the way back is awesome. It makes lining up 6 footers a breeze. Ping did a beautiful job on the face milling.

 

Feel - From listening to others I expected it to be a little lacking in the feel department. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Very solid feel and sound.I thought it might sound tinny but it doesn't. I have a Ketch and I like the feel of the Bergen even better that the Ketsch. Mishits still get close to the hole. MOI on this thing is incredible.

 

Grip - I HATE BIG GRIPS! Not this one. I was sure I would immediately be cutting off the big Word not allowed Ping grip and trashing it. No way! Much better than the Super Stroke grips I've tried.

 

I went to the putting green and messed around with it for about 20 minutes and then took it to the course. Played 9 holes and had 13 putts. Had a few putts over 25 feet and l lagged them all to under 3 feet. Sunk 2 putts over 10 feet and never missed anything inside 5. Too bad the season is about done but there is not a doubt in my mind this will be my go to putter for a long time.

Thanks for the review--I've been intrigued by the Bergen since seeing the initial pics. How does the head size compare to your Ketsch? Any chance you could post a side by side from address comparison pic?

Keep in mind I have the Ketch Mid. The Bergen is very close to the same size as the regular Ketsch.

I like how the Bergen and Oslo Slates look in person compared to the Pictures online. i ultimately went with the Oslo in Platinum. I can't putt to save my live and this doesn't fix it, but it makes it look better.

 

I will be getting the Tine when it comes out as thats what I want (Scotty Cameron Futura/Odessy Fang style)

I went with the Oslo as I like the cavity on the back, as I use it to pick up the ball.. small detail, and stupid for using that to pick out a putter, but its what my eye likes.

 

Keep rolling yours man! I agree that the feel is great, when you hit it solid. I think its a bit harsh on mis hits, but then again, mine don't go in so thats harsh too...

Mishits still feel pretty good with the Bergen. Plus I get better results than I deserve. Win Win!

Has anyone had a chance to compare the bergen to the EVNROLL ER6? I'm in uncharted waters here looking for my first larger mallet, but these two are leading the pack presently.
