Callaway Proponent Dealer....????

Can someone please explain to me what this is exactly? And what is the difference between this & retail? What should someone expect when dealing with a CPD?

The proponent dealers are allowed to buy head only for custom shafting and not have to pull and discard stock shafts for custom builds.

Is cost the same as buying the entire club retail vs head only? If the shafted club retails for $399, what pricing would be expected to pay for head only for a CPD to build? The heads are still the same specs as retail heads offered, not tour van heads?

I don't believe they are allowed to sell the components as stand alones. If they get caught it's bye bye account.

Yeah....kinda like when Ping only allowed "green grass only" accounts 5 sets of Eye 2 irons per month, and they couldn't "sell" them to off-course dealers.

Where do you think Nevada Bob's got all their Pings?????

And, how many green grass accounts went "bye bye"...?????

I'm not saying it doesn't happen but that doesn't mean it's allowed. Look at Discount Dans and how they can't carry Ping anymore because of prices. Examples are on both sides of the fence.

I buy all my clubs from a proponent dealer, and was Callaway's national club fitter of the year. Clubs are usually more then off the rack because your putting premium shafts in them and are being built to spec, but are much cheaper then paying retail and scraping the shaft. Heads are the same, but can get the occasional tour issue head. As far as pricing on just a head I'm not sure, depends on what your looking for, you can reach out to Brian Gott at Gott golf.com

I know there are other proponent accounts but I'm not sure how to locate them, but it's a really good program for the consumer as you get high end gear custom fit at a better price. I really wish more OEMS would offer a similar program especially to high end fitters.

As others said these dealers are not selling the heads, they are mostly saving themselves the labor and waste involved in pulling stock shafts before a custom build.

This allows them to possibly give a better price on a custom built said of Callaway irons over say a set of Mizuzo's that only come with the stock s300's or whatever and have to be pulled and the heads cleaned and prepped before custom shafting.
