How many birdies in a row is your best ?........

3 in a row for me. I've had 2 in a row a bunch of times, but my putter isn't good enough (it's the putter, not me) to string together any more than that.

I'm around a 4 handicap...I just make lots of pars. Average probably 34 putts per round

Played Saturday in Ocala, FL at Candler Hills on the way down to the PGA Show driving down from Michigan and once I got the cob webs out I made birdie on 8 and then made the turn and birdied 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 for 7 in a row. My old personal best was 6 in a row. On 17 I had a 15 footer for birdie from the fringe as well and as soon as I hit it I thought it was in but it burned the edge to end it.

The other day I had something happen for the first time in a quarter century and thousand of rounds of golf.

 

I saved par from by getting up and down from green side bunkers two holes in a row. I only get up and down from bunkers about once out of every 15 times so two "sandies" in one round is rare. Two in a row was pretty amazing.

 

The next hole I was in a bunker for a third hole in a row, dead simple shot from a good lie. I was so nervous I almost whiffed at the ball on the first try. I was every bit as nervous then as I am when putting for a third birdie in a row!

Three for me. Made a 10 footer on a short Par 4, then hit it to within a couple feet on a Par 3, and finished with a 2 putt birdie on a Par 5. I had a look at 4 in a row, but left the putt short :(

I'll bite on this as I think it's a funny story. Working at a course at the time, playing in the "staff championship" legit course, 7,100+ 73.5/147. I haven't really been playing like I used to, with life and what not getting in the way. But know that I have at least an outside shot at this thing. I come out the gates and lay down 5 in a row which included a hole that was 512 par 4!!! My group was like WTF.... best part was I think I ended up shoot 77 or something.... talk about premature performance......

Made 7 in a row on the front 9 of the course I used to have a membership at before it closed.

 

But the double bogey on 1 and double bogey on 9 really soured what was going to be a special round. Wound up shooting 32-36 that day for a 68 (Par 70).

5 in a row here. I birdied the first 5 holes at the Greyhawk Raptor course and proceeded to limp to a 72. That was pretty demoralizing. I've birdied 3 or 4 holes in a row dozens of times, but 5 was a one time event.

Started with 4 in a row last summer whilst playing the front 9 with our pro, and 2 other guys. We had such a good 4 ball better ball match - over 9 holes I think there were 12 birdies between us.

 

4 on the front 9 isn't a regular occurrence for me, my putting isn't solid enough - I'd be very happy with 4 in 18 every time.

Let's see. I make a birdie about once every 24 holes, on average. So if every hole were an independent trial I'd make three in a row about once every 150 years (I play about 120 rounds/year).

 

So I'd better hope that either I improve my rate of birdie production (unlikely) or that the results on one hole is not independent of the previous hole. Otherwise I'm probably going to have 3-in-a-row as my lifetime best!

 

The good news is, I think if I make two birdies in a row then I'm probably have a better than average day. So they aren't really independent trials.
