There's a thread on Itobori on the JDM forum. They make some gorgeous looking stuff, but I have no idea how it performs.

 

Incidentally, a lot of OEM drivers here in Japan cost around $900. I told a King Cobra Ltd would be over 90,000 yen, which is over $900.

Most JDM equipment is very expensive. I think the quality control is superior compared to US golf equipment. Maybe it's "craft" or "boutique" gear but the JDM drivers I've owned in the past were all flawless in build.

I am totally biased as I love JDM stuff, but the above are my sentiments exactly. No offense Cameron guys, but on this forum it is cool to spend crazy money on some Cameron's, and even $300-$500 for ones that frankly feel and look like $150 putters, and it is cool to get new titliest 716cbs at over a grand or whatever, but somehow JDM here has some connotations attached (To some) to them that are not entirely true all or most of the time. Used JDM is still cheaper than new here. If used JDM was widely available here, I think there would be a lot more mainstream love, because it would remove the stigmas of super expensive and boutique to a degree.

 

Anyway, I believe their irons and wedges are Kyoei blanks, so I would image they play and feel well. This is by far the most gimmicky company over there looks wise, their blades look pretty cool though. Would definitely be an interesting bag to roll up with a full set of them putter to driver. Be sure to wear your loudest outfit for proper pairing.

OP you need to visit Japan/Asian market where $900 is typically middle ground for drivers. There are several boutique brands and even major oems that have drivers at and well above this price point and then shaft choices can cause jumps into even higher brackets.

 

I can tell you from personal experience holding some of these higher end sticks/heads in my hands. They look amazing with incredible attention to detail. However I cannot comment on feel because there was no way I was even going to waste time swinging anything because its so out of my price range.

Pretty cool what you can do with a simple belt sander. I spent many hours in front of one shaping out putters back in the 90's. Itobori is selling playable art. Art is priced by demand. They will get what someone is willing to pay and PT Barnum said it best.....

I really don't want to derail this, but I spent an hour digging through old titliest JDM irons, I found the dci tour blade (not a real blade but maybe cool CB) and that 581 forged or whatever I knew about and read it feels awful, and some mixed 690cbs etc, but nothing that resembled a 962 forged. I am really obsessing on this as I would buy a forged 962 set tomorrow, so any more help is appreciated.

"Typical" oem drivers can get to around $900 easily with "upgraded" shafts.

There are times I'd gladly pay that for another new FT-9 TA 8.5 head knowing it'll bust like the other three have.
