I'm super jealous. It was in the mid 60's at 7am already. I so miss having every other Friday off :(

All I can hope is that I can sneak out of here early and hit the range for a bit.

Yesterday was supposed to be tame, then the winds kicked in after 4 holes. Easy two club wind most of the time, but still had a damn good time out there. Enjoy the warmth today. It's spectacular outside.

How did you play? Did you play the Kirklands? Thoughts?

Hey all - wanted to post a deal that just came across my email.

I play my golf at Ironbridge - so if any of you are coming through the Glenwood area shoot me a message or post in here and I'll meet up for a round if there's room.

Eagle Ranch is pretty fun course and I have yet to play Redlands but I hear good things.

Buy here: Rocky Mountain Golf Trail

One round at each of Eagle Ranch, Ironbridge & Redlands Mesa for $220.

Given the wind, firm greens, and lack of play in a while, I just went with my old faithful e6 (winter ball of choice...and I have far too many). I'll use the Kirklands soon enough!

Ball striking was really good. Had one quad due to a few botched bunker shots, but I hit most fairways. Putting was so-so. The wind threw me for a loop a few times though. Definitely a day where I felt like my game was better than my score showed. I left the course in a great mood despite losing 3 and 2 in match play to a friend. That was the most fun golf I've played in a long time...and I can't really put a finger on why that's the case. Just an enjoyable day out there.

I know the wind was serious. Shot 81 at Blackstone. I hit gap from 152 and PW from 100. It was insane but still a lot of fun just being out there in shorts and a shirt. Hope that weather comes back soon.

Was able to play 18 at CommonGround this afternoon. It ended up being great, despite the forecast. I'll take weather like that anytime, especially in February. 8290d905ddd96d76a6a797f7f8af67f0.jpg

What's your point? These are my normal distances. I always hit GW 152 or better, especially when I'm in a greenside bunker.

Also if I really step on a PW I feel pretty confident in making it go at least 100 yards too.

Ha! Just saying the wind was very strong. Normally hit gap 120ish.

Yeah this weekend actually ended up a lot better than the forecast made it seem. I played a great match Saturday. He stuffed one on 16 to 2' from 190 to go all square. He popped on 18 so I knew I had to go birdie-birdie to win. 17 is a drivable par 4 and down-wind so it wasn't too hard to make birdie. Won that hole and then the guy hits a perfect drive on 18 and stuffs one to 2' from 150. I hit mine to 4' and make the birdie only to have him give me the match when he yanks it so bad it doesn't hit the cup.

Then yesterday I started my morning indoors and by 11 or so it was warm enough to practice on real grass. I even ended up taking my jacket off. The temp only said 45 but without wind I was very comfortable.

Plans ended up changing this weekend, and while I didn't get up to the mountains to ski, I ended up sneaking away to the golf Expo on Saturday morning. It was a pretty good time, and scored some pretty good deals on golf, as well as won a free round at South Suburban. I wish I had a better idea of my availability to play for this upcoming season, since there were some great opportunities for savings at good courses.

I hit a bunch of different clubs while I was there too - MP-25, MP-5, JPX900 tour, 765, 795, AP2, and M2 irons. Fell in love with the MP-25's. The 765's were a close second for me. I thought they felt pretty similar. The MP-5's and 795's weren't nearly as forgiving on mishits, though I wasn't on a LM and was indoors - just based on feel. The AP2's were great as well. The JPX900 Tours, while a very similar club to the MP-25's felt and sounded slightly weird to me in comparison, though I bet the performance was similar.

Also hit the Epic, M2, and JPX900 drivers. All were pretty awesome, though I'm not a huge fan of the M2 sound, but that wouldn't deter me if the numbers were there. Without seeing any numbers, I'm not sure what I'd pick. I didn't like the Cobra F7 all that much, but that could be the shaft more than anything else. I can't wait to get them on a LM to see how they compare to my 913D2.

I'll be really interested to see what CC suggests versus my initial opinions when I have my fitting on Friday. I'm trying my best to go in with an open mind, but that's kind of tough lol. Hopefully my swing is still there as I was swinging the club really well this weekend.

I was going to do the Expo but the last couple of years it seemed to move away from equipment (with exception of Lenny's) and more towards golf vacations and round packages / memberships. How was it this year?

I will add though that I did get my Carbon putter there last year. I was researching them for quite some time and it was just happen stance that they were there. I got a Ringo 1/4 with the Colorado flag on the sole. I love the 370g weight.

You're right. A lot of focus was on courses and vacations. I was hoping for more equipment booths, particularly for putters, but there wasn't much at all for that.

There are some great deals on courses though. Like I said, I wish I had a better idea of my availability this summer, because I could have paid for most of my golf there. I did split a 4-pack at Heritage Eagle Bend for $144, which included cart. Pretty solid to play a decent course with no restrictions for $36!

Nice. It's a fun course overall. I would love to join ClubCorp, but it's a bit too far from me. My friend is a member there, so I'm hoping to play a couple rounds up at Blackstone this year since I have yet to play it.

HEB twilight rates are a pretty good deal during the summer. I like the course.

True.

If you guys are big hitters, play the tips. It's a completely different course from back there especially #11.

You'll like Blackstone. Although I find the "Gauntlet" a little much for my tastes. #14 & #15 are okay, #13 is weird (I don't like par 5's they force you to play 3 shots). #16 can be a beast depending on the wind. Pin back make it 245ish with wind can make you hit 3w or more. Just FYI : the members call it flatstone because most of the putts break was less than what you read.

So after doing some thinking, I'm contemplating booking a fitting session (probably just driver) with D'Lance golf as well, more out of curiosity. I paid for a lifetime fitting there years ago, so it wouldn't cost me any more money. It would be interesting to see if they come up with the same results as CC. Also, I'm interested to see if they've improved on the overall experience.

I'll be doing my club champion fitting on Friday as well (in the morning). And definitely let me know if you guys are getting together for any upcoming rounds!

On a side note, have any of you guys played at Red Rocks Country Club or know anything about it? I live fairly close by and am thinking about joining. I've always done public golf, and the winter golf has been fun thus far for me, but that's because of the sparse crowds. Time is becoming more and more precious to me (and probably everyone) and I will probably be banned and/or ban myself from further golf with these 5.5+ hour rounds once it picks up.

Let me know if you do this. I was at D'lance today talking about a new driver fitting. I was fit there a year ago and am ready for something else. I asked what head to buy with my shop credit from another retailer and PJ basically told me to pick the one I liked the look of best and then he told me he was likely going to put me into the same shaft as last time no matter what head I chose. Seems odd to me.

I like PJ, Dan and D'lance but feel like they don't want to do another fitting since my specs from previous fittings are in their system. Let me know if you have a similar experience. I am thinking of going to CC to see what they come up with even though I have the same lifetime fitting at D'lance.
