Partial Wedge - Drop from BS to Impact

I know a lot of long driving tour pros drop from top of BS to impact. Always exceptions but a lot do.

 

Notice when we do our partial wedge backswings up to wedge 3/4 L BS we are dropping on the transition into impact. Having trouble finding great SG pro swings to measure their head drop if any.

 

Know of any links of good swings from front view on youtube or vimeo?

 

My gut says the drop is more a power move on full swings and we should not be doing this on wedge or partial wedge shots but I would like to measure a few.

Are you talking about the squat?

I think so. Working with junior and has great power squat on full swing. i have been cautioned both sides of keeping it and some on not having it. I have measured long hitting pros and from the top of their BS most drop (from the squat probably) into impact and their head lowers.

 

Been working short game technique and we see junior still has that squat on partial wedge shots. Maintains spine angle and tush on tush line from address is fine. Something is causing the initial drop from transition to half down the DS. It probably is a carry over from the full swing squat since not trying to swing differently.

 

I don't buy changing it for the full swing since I think it helps generate power. But I can see merit on not dropping on partial wedge / pitch shots since they are not power shots. Easy to find full swings to pull down from youtube into my software to measure the address line on the head and impact line to measure the amount of drop.

 

Having trouble finding good wedge / pitch players to do the same to measure.

I don't squat, but what I've read is the shorter the club the less you notice it often because of the narrow stance. And for pitches, I believe the intent of the lower body is more reactive and less building up power for the shot.

 

But I've been wrong before.
