T.P. Mills Putters

The best bargain in putters
I just wanted to see what others opinions were of T.P. Mills putters? I have a few Tour Camerons and a few T.P. Mills putters and the Mills are every bit as nice. :drinks:

David is very helpful and remembers you every time you email/call him. If he had the bucks behind him like Don does (Scotty C.) David would be rollin' in bucks.

Handmade putters for under $400? Try getting a Cammy for that.

I have converted a few "Cameron" only guys to Mills putters. Any thoughts? :clapping:

Does any one know why TP no longer makes putters for Mizuno???? I was wondering Why the marketing folks at Mizuno would let Scotty get away AND then lose or get rid of TP.  Just something that I always wanted to know...

The TP Mills putters for Mizuno were made by Mizuno. I'm sure he sold the design and rights but they were forged putters with milled faces. Good putter but not milled putters. I don't think the Mills line was a success for Mizuno.

Thanks Matt...these putters are very cool! Anyone know how long the wait is to get one?

54897

about a month...give or take.

54909

much longer then that now...been in contact with him for around 3+ plus weeks already about getting a custom...he wrote me today saying the he has a great idea what I'm looking and will hopefully get to work on something in the near future.

He is extremely busy getting ready for a new retail line.

David Mills is one of the finest putter makers in America. He is great to work with and if you can describe it, he can build it.

He is also a very down to earth guy and will go out of his way to help you. He does build putters one at a time, so there aren't any rush jobs to be had.

If you want the best handmade putter around, contact David at his website and give him some time and he will get you fixed up.

ps Cameron copied designs from Karsten Solheim and TP Mills had nothing to do with teaching him how to build putters. Cameron is just good as a Xerox machine at making certain lines of his putters.

jsh, what model is that? Looks like Klassic?

I'm contemplating ordering a tp mills custom, I like his designs and they fit my stroke more than most putters do (lots of toe hang). I'm waiting to see the new line first, since I really only need slight tweaking on a design, not a whole new one-off design.

To show you how thorough David is he just shipped me my new handmade in a "raw" state head stuck on a shaft and gripped. Just to try out and suggest any changes that I might have. I'll ship it back witha few slight modifications and he''ll finish it up. What a nice touch! I get to actually see the putter prior to finish product to insure that I get exactlly what I want. Great service and a great gentleman to deal with! :pimp: I've already got my next one on the drawing board.

If Mills goes to Nike, I most likely wont buy one of his putters, I refuse to buy a Nike product, something about Nike and golf equipment.

Something like they make a great product and hire the best of the best to design their clubs. Please get over that swoosh. Take the paint out so you can't see it. Put some tape over it but don't hate the swoosh, you might like it, give it a try go ahead dude try the swoosh. :pimp:

*Confused* But you play a Nike ball? I must say though, that is a great ball, especially at $20 a dozen, I noticed the TW version scuffs up pretty easy, does yours?

A typical response from a golf elitist. My buddy sports a Titleist driver and Mizuno irons, just because it does not have the image of a player's club yet he won't touch it. He's more concerned about what people think than actually playing the game.

Huh??? Just the highest quality finest engineered equipment on the market.......and only going to get better too........

As for the putters, Nike doesn't need Mills to make putters for them......they've got some of the finest machinists in the biz in Ft. Worth and they can make ANYTHING that a Nike Staffer desires......I've seen Ansers made for Duval that were awesome.......same for a Mills/Cameron type blade for Justin Leonard.......all were simply beautiful.......but no plans for the general market as of yet....

However, Nike IS aware that they have developed a loyal "following" that are crying out for a quality milled putter with the swoosh on it......it'll come eventually.......

I for one would love to see what they come out with. I know I loved Michelle Wie's proto she started off with in the beginning of the year at Turtle Bay.

ALSO.....Guys, lets keep this thread on it's main subject of TP Mills putters. There's no need to make this thread a Nike debate.

I just got the finished product back from David and I must say its simply beautiful. Roll the ball wonderfully and the feel is fantasic. I've had a few Tour Camerons and while they were great putters this Mills is every bit as good. And throw in the amount of customization that David offers it becomes just that much better.

All I can say is that it was a great experience working with David. A true gentleman and a great craftsman. If you've been sitting on the fence thinking about doing a putter with David i would recommend getting one soon as I think he is going to start slowing down on doing custom jobs with his retail line coming out I hear. I'm not waiting I've already spoken with him about my next "project". :cheesy:

When will we see this new retail line??  I'm seriously considering ordering a custom but if he comes out with a retail model similar for less than half the cost I'd rather do that....

62131

I doubt the retail line will offer the same degree of "customization" that the handmades do. With the handmades you can just about design your own putter to your specs. The options that David will offer you is almost mindboggling. Then throw you thoughts and input into it. Its truly a great experience doing a putter with him. And based on what he charges for a handmade I seriously doubt that the retails will be half the cost. The price for the handmade and what you get for your $ is truly astounding. Great value.

I was under the impression the customs were around $400 and up, depending on the level of customization. I'm really only looking for a soft tail or Klassic with sight dot, so not overly customized. I noticed the older production putters on his site were $160 with a few customize options.

I got a Mizuno TP Mills putter today. Granted, its not the same, but it seems to be pretty damn nice when carpet putting.

Those Mizuno along with Spaulding TP's in my opinion are hidden gems. They've got great feel and can be found at some ridiculously great prices. I've got a Mizuno TP Mills Workshop Design II putter thats pretty as well as very good feeling.
