Poor Ballstriking and Need Major Swing Help (Video)

It seems like the past few months have been an absolute struggle and I am looking for any and all advice as to what I may be doing wrong. Right off the bat I know I have arm overrun and don't load my right help all that welll. However I am not sure if that is the culprit of my poor ball striking or just one of a few things.

It looks pretty quirky but you get some serious serious lag and a decent impact position.

 

 

There is plenty to like. Although your left Arm collapses after impact and you have a lot of wrist roll in the impact area.

Thanks for the reply and to be honest I don't have that many snap hooks but do have my fair share of blocks and thinned shots. In the backswing I don't feel coiled and therefore feel like I have nothing on the downswing. The downswing is also looks to be very handsy.

Let's see a close up of your grip. Something isn't right with the angle you create at the top. Crazy lag.

Restricting hips limits amount of shoulder turn. You have to allow the hips to freely rotate in response to the arms/ shoulder.

Read Ben hogans 5 lessons. It will help with the grip. You can order the book on amazon or there is a copy floating around on the internet. The thumb shouldn't be on top of the grip. Both thumbs should be on opposite sides of the grip. The v in your left hand should be more between your chin and right shoulder. Also.. monte scheinblum has a you tube channel with a lot of good video. I'm not an expert.. so I will leave the proper advice to them, but I will say it looks like you flip your wrists at impact.

Get your left hand rotated more to the right where you can see another knuckle and get right hand more on top of your other like in this video. The little thumb pad on your palm will fit almost like its custom made on top of your left thumb.

Yeah. I feel like if he had a proper grip he wouldn't be able to get this position. First time I've ever seen anyone get in that position.

Not sure what club you're hitting there but the ball is slightly too far back in stance. That will promote an inside to out path, causing blocks. Also, thinning shots because low point is way after the ball.

The extreme looking angle is his right elbow really flexing allowing the club to drop down his back. If you squint a bit it briefly has a passing resemblance, looks like a handicap version of Colin Montgomerie. I would shove my hands about five inches further forward at address, widen my stance considerably, about 6 inches, turn the shoulders way more. In fact start to turn them and keep your arms and chest moving through the ball rather than stopping. I would out my hands about an inch closer together, ride the right hand higher on the left, as one unit and strengthen the left hand about three quarters of an inch.

One thing I completely missed for years is the proper grip. I went with what I felt was comfortable and I ended up spending years trying to combat a fade/slice. I came across an old Tommy Armour video a while ago from the 1950s where he describes how to grip the club. Wow, this made a huge difference for me in my accuracy and distance.

DTL video would help but good action overall, looks a bit like Chad Campbell on the BS. Your left hand grip is stronger in the swing video than the photo, but it could could be the angle. Imo the important thing would be to actually strengthen your right hand grip so it is more underneath/more supinated at address and your left elbow is pointing more towards the target at address.

The defining feature of this swing is almost complete hip restriction. Everything else is just creative ways to get to the ball in as good a spot as possible. The angle of attack looks timing dependent unreliable and not shallow.

Grip is a bit too weak, agree on hip turn and in general legs look a little too passive and is maybe why ball is back in stance.
