Project X HZRDUS Handcrafted T1100 REVIEWS

Recommended Posts

If you like extremely butt stiff shafts this is the one for you.

**Crossess HZRDUS Green T1100 off "shafts to test drive" list**

Thanks for taking the time to articulate this, Kirk. Stiff handled shafts have never been my cup of tea.

Some pics (sorry, was raining today. I did manage to hit 5 balls in the sprinkle and the shaft took all I could throw at it).

Played nine holes with it yesterday. Seemed to be very stable. Typical PX feel. Controlled kick with no whippiness whatsoever. Better feel than the black. Like a smooth whiteboard profile.

Didn't get the greatest results but think I need to adjust settings on M1 again to suit this shaft. Very low spin and zero left balls which is great

Wasn't sure. Looked to be a bit bigger than ours. But, she's a bit of a runt. only weighs 50lbs. Great family dogs though.

Anyhow, aside from the cool pooch, I'm looking forward to the shaft review as well as how the new M2 plays :)

He's 53 lbs. Just has a MASSIVE head. His dad did too though. And of course he has to have a UGA related name... Hines Chubb Walker Evans is his name on his AKC papers lol.

I did get to hit 5 balls today in a light sprinkle and the shaft is very stable and handled my aggressive transition with ease

Lol, the big head is awesome. Ours is a pin head. Do you use his full name or only when he's in big trouble?

My transition is on the smoother side. Not sure if this shaft would be up my alley. I've typically had better luck with the blueboard type mid/mid shaft than a really low launch model. A lot of my speed comes later in my swing.

With a smoother transition, you're getting along well with the tp7? I have a tp6 and will hit it for the first time tomorrow. Been more fan of whiteboard shafts in the past.

Don't know yet :) I bought it on a whim for a decent price. I'm in a simulator league and have only hit it a few times. Reserving final judgement until the snow's gone. Reports seemed to indicate it played a touch stiffer than the DI so I thought I'd give it a shot. So far it doesn't feel much stiffer than the B series I used last season. Feels livelier at impact though.

If I could I'd get fit legitimately. But, it's all just trial and error. I figure it'll be easy to get rid of if it doesn't work out.

I also played an Ahina a few times. While I looked the shaft, I found the Kaili to be a better fit for the type of ball flight I like to see. I don't generate a lot of spin (based on lm #'s from a few years ago) and want to hit the ball relatively high.

I think you should be fine. I am playing Blueboard in my Nike, and have used Whiteboard with SLDR. I thought the T1100 might be too stiff for me but it felt REALLY good. Weather has been terrible so I haven't had a chance to hit this again... I want to test it against blueboard and whiteboard next.

Wonder if the combination of stiffness without brittle, harsh feel of this shaft and others is the product of the T1100 material being used in them.

I would have to think that your statement is correct. I have hit Black and the T1100, for being a stiffer profile, feels much smoother and has way less harsh vibration to it.

It's similar to yellow in that it is counter balanced, but it's a bit firmer in both the butt and tip. As others have stated, it's not a harsh feeling however, so it's definitely playable but will be a little firmer in the T1100.

Interested to hear any comparisons to the AD TP as well if you guys have tried it. From what I read, they use the same material (T1100).

I can see it now, this is going to be the "my shaft's MSI can beat up your shaft's MSI" argument for 2017. :derisive:

"These shafts use T1100 also."

"Yeah, well my shaft has more T1100 than yours."

"Does not."

"Does so."

some good info...

the tips for my tour M2 should be arriving this weekend and i'll get it (t1100 6.5 75g) loaded up. without a doubt the best looking shaft i have seen from TT/PX - much of what can be attributed to the $1,100 per gallon metallic chrome paint (making the ion finish of old look pedestrian).

over the past few years i feel that TT/PX has really stepped up their offering, the tour results and success would also indicate that this is more factual than just my opinion. that being said - they haven't quite worked for me... i've been critical of the HZRDUS after my initial positive testing as other shaft didn't feel as dead, offered similar dispersion and had what i call an extra gear in terms of ball speed. for instance the tensei ck pro white 70tx has been all of these. the material used in the new HZRDUS t1100 has me very optimistic that this shaft might finally combine all of what TT/PX has done great with that little extra something that was left for desire.

Probably the best GD shaft to compare to the HZRDUS T1100 is the M9003.

Played nine more today and got setting on m1 dialed in.

This is by far my favorite project x shaft. Very smooth extremly predictable. Zero surprises other than the lack of curvature on the ball. My misses are much better than my gamer.

This is my gamer shaft for time being. More playing time monday hopefully. Will report back

Alright, time to compose some thoughts in this space.

I have taken the T1100 out for a range session as well as played a round with it on the course (plus warm-up).

Initial impressions of the shaft were posted earlier in the thread. It's absolutely stunning to look at in person. The first range day, I was on the range by myself for most of the session and the second half of the session, a couple of guys that came to hit balls walked up. One asked if I was hitting a steel shaft in a driver, that's how stunning the chrome paint is on this model. It's just nice to look at.

With that out of the way, let's talk about performance. The first day range session, I spent 15-20 balls getting the head adjusted after warming up. It ended up coming out that I cranked it one marking open from standard on the 9.5 2017 M2 (I could not get one of the new all aluminum adapters because no one had them so I used a 2 degree adapter from last year with the plastic ferrule). This wasn't for launch conditions, per se, just to have the driver sit how I like it at address, slightly open. I then alternated shots, 3 balls at a time from my 2016 M1 440. The one thing I noticed, head for head, was that the new M2 was a little louder (not pertaining to this review, but worth mentioning none the less).

I hit them side by side and the 9.5 with the HZRDUS launched at the same height as my 8.5 M1 440. I don't hit the ball really high (I tried to get to 17/1700 a few years ago and just couldn't get there). My average launch usually is around 12-13 degrees. Going up in loft with this shaft, I was able to replicate the same launch conditions as before. I don't have a TrackMan of FlightScope and my local course doesn't have one either. I generally don't do launch monitor stuff until after I adjust it on the range then play it on the course and decide whether it's reliable or not before I worry with renting time on a monitor. If it's not going to make the bag, I'm not spending the money. Sorry, just how I do things.

I can say that this combo performed well on the range. I really want to try the shaft in the new M1 as I loved that head when demo'ing it. That said, I think my M1 has some spider cracks on the crown (as I mentioned before) and I want to send it in for evaluation and see what TM does. I bought it new and the retailer I purchased from will send it in for me.

The shaft worked very well for me. It's stiff, but not overly boardy to me. It has the distinct feel I like when my aggressive transition kicks in and has the almost bullwhip feel right at impact when it unloads, which is another feel I really like. I swung it normal and then swung out of my shoes and the shaft handled both with ease. I don't know that I have enough in the tank to ever worry about overloading the shaft and throwing something at it that it can't handle. This one does feel a little stiffer than the HZRDUS Black Handcrafted I've been playing, but that's a good thing. I can draw it and hit a fade, but it's not as much curvature as before which is also a good hing for me as I tend to overcook those shots a little at times. The shaft really seemed to just want to go straight though. I played 18 the next day (Saturday) and hit some REALLY good drives. On one hole (#4 at the home course), I carried it right around where I normally finish up off the tee. I ended up with a little side hill partial wedge shot in which I really managed to booger up. I didn't hit my irons particularly well at all that day and I couldn't scramble if you gave me a frying pan and half a dozen eggs. But the one thing I did manage to do well was get off the tee. I murdered the driver on nearly every hole I hit it on. Several in spots I normally play from or slightly inside of them. The feel of the shaft was exceptional all day and the distance was spot on and I was just about able to point and shoot all day with it. Had I been able to do anything other than get off the tee, I could've possibly scored pretty decently. I did manage to kill a drive on #18 (dogleg par 5) and had a 56* left in. Stuffed the approach to about 4 feet and 2 putted for birdie (one of those days, and I've never eagled that hole since it was converted to a par 5. Only one on the course I've never eagled).

Overall, if I were to recommend the shaft to someone, it'd be someone that likes a little stiffer feel and that appreciates really feeling the shaft load and unload. It does play slightly stiffer than the previous HZRDUS, but it's not overly harsh while doing so. I think the shaft will get a lot of traction with the public for those that are inclined to spend the coin on it.

I don't think anybody ever got to 17/1700; that was 50% Flightscope theory and 50% marketing to sell a REALLY unforgiving driver (SLDR).

Thanks for this review, still think this is a shaft I'll pass on in spite of being a complete sucker for graphite shafts finished in chrome.
