Very High Follow Through

Just looked at my swing on video and I exit very high after impact. As I progress into my finish, my right and left elbows are well above my head. Should this be something to be concerned about? Is this generally indicative of a flaw earlier in the swing?

arms aren't moving around your body enough. Look in a mirror on your backswing, your hands are probably too high at the top of your backswing as well.

 

Takes one to know one, one of my menu options as well.

Definitely steep coming down and your positions look very similar to how mine did and still do somewhat....do you have a long backswing?

I think he just is saying that your swing works well don't worry about it LOL.

 

But yeah the swing looks very vertical and armsy (guessing) since a hip rotating driven swing would be very hard to be that vertical. That's a high follow through and I would imagine that you are scooping or flipping at the bottom combined with your torso flexing forwards along with some EE. Hard to say without the video.

 

I would imagine trying to hit more forward through impact instead of up and also rotating around your torso more. Look at GG stuff where he says bring it back vertical but shallow it out on the downswing.

I would say I do have a long backswing-normally get around parallel with a seven iron and past that with everything else!

You can't just change your finish, it's a result. Getting the look you want would require drastic changes in your backswing and transition.

Interesting! I would rather chase function over aesthetics; this just seemed like an oddity to me on video. What is the relationship between my my hip movement and the action of my arms? Just curious!

Your arms work in and up....then your hips have to slide and thrust to keep you from being vertical with the shaft and OTT with arms and hands.

 

Your pelvis is 4-6" closer to the ball than address and I'm guessing some excess lateral movement as well. Those moves minimize rotation. Arms can only go out and up.

Nothing wrong with high hands at the finish if its the result of an upright swing plane. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are having ball flight or contact problems, in which case I'd ask someone who knows more than me.

I'm just curious, one, if you're Playing to that +1, why would ya care what your finish looked like and two, why would ya ask a bunch of strangers who don't know you, don't know your swing or your game, and most, including me, are not qualified to critique your swing, what's wrong with your finish/swing?

 

Only Monte is qualified from what I've seen and again, why do ya care?

 

Are ya having problems "under the gun" with your finish/swing?

 

If not, I'd leave it TheF alone?️

Thanks Forged4ever! This was one of the first times I hit balls all year, and my golf season won't start for a few months yet. If I was playing at the moment I would have no concerns, and the ball would be the judge of my swing. This was just pure curiosity on my part, maybe it is cabin fever!
