Need some help with my swing

Hey Guys,

 

I've been playing for as long as I can remember and really want to take it to the next level.

In the video I'm hitting a 7 iron, which carried about 184 in this particular swing, and I'm hitting new irons (srixon z945) which are stronger lofted than my old 690.cb

 

somethings i've been looking at:

-club speed/lag - small casting

-early extension, can't straighten left knee

 

Also I'm wondering if it's appropriate for me to change to x100 tour shafts or would you guys recommend any other shafts?

My miss is different everyday lol, I think on that particular day i got steep and hit 5-10 yard cuts, carry distance was about 10-15 yards shorter as well

 

I will post more swings if possible

YES! but any ideas how? I'm really trying to get a lot better, i realize that in order to compete, I need to be able to have a realistic shot at birdie on most holes i play

I thought the key to lag was pulling as hard as you can from the top and holding the angle ;)

Do an online lesson with Monte. It's cheap and you'll get practical advice quickly. You have a really good swing, I think you'll improve most with some sort of guidance from a pro.

I'm not a pro but a couple things you could try I'd have a little more depth with left arm when it's parallel on backswing, Adam Scott has more than you and I agree about the right hip/knee, your not really using your lower body effectively. A feel you could try is pushing or sitting into the right heel in transition. I use it occasionally. Good luck!

 

Ps. Watch your favorite pros swings and look for things they have in common. This has helped me the most when working on my swing. Then it's all about your individual feels.

It's the same as how to shorten your swing or turn your hips more in the backswing. You just do it.

 

Don't let it move forward so early with a conscious effort.

 

This drill will give you a feel, but it's effort over time.

I've struggled with the same thing. One thing that's helped is to make sure you feel pressure in the right heel in the backswing. Then try and keep it there as you start down.

 

Start with super slow swings so you can have awareness of where that pressure is.

Wow thank you guys, yeah it's hard because i'm trying to straighten my left knee and bring my weight into my left heel - but keeping my right knee back.. i will be trying many drills :) thank you!

Let's just say with the way your hips and right knee work now, it's good your left knee doesn't straighten and you cast a bit.

 

Those things are actually why you hit it well.
