So I'm sitting at my desk with a huge smile on my face as I follow this thread. My wife walks by and jumps into my office wanting to see what was on my computer that was making me smile so much. I told her I was following an awesome thread on a golf forum about returning shoes. She told me she would have rather found me watching porn and walks out.

This is our curse. We just can't find any women who understand golf.

That's why "nothing on the PGA Tour ever changes, just the wives."

Man there are a lot of idiots in this thread ; )

Golfdiscount.com customizes golf balls; I think we should all order a dozen from them with "I'm an idiot" stamped on them.

Think of the joy that one would experience finding that ball nestled in the junk.

The real question here is how many idiots would try and get a refund because the ball is defective(won't go straight)

And now, thanks to you, I need to contact a Moderator.

Mods:

This reply made me laugh and I spilled my coffee on my shirt. I believe that GolfWrx should replace both my coffee and my shirt. If one of you will contact me I will be glad to let you know my size and how I prefer my java.

Seriously, that made me bust out. My wife thought something was wrong.

This has become one of the funniest threads ever. Not what the OP intended but we should all thank him though.

this could be the best thread ever, when is the last time the OP chimed in.

i have a cold and just blew my nose into a terribly smelling tissue, i called charmin and they said i could return it within 90 days

Bought a burger from McDonald's yesterday. Ate 3/4 of it and realized it didn't taste right. McDonald's wouldn't take it back. Terrible customer service.

You jest, but I used to own a restaurant out in SoCal and this exact nonsense would happen more frequently than you could imagine.

Three bites left of their pasta and then complain bitterly to the server that it was far too salty and they needed to see the manager because they didn't think they should have to pay for it.

It took every ounce of control I had to not to lean across the table and strangle them. I'd of course take care of it and apologize.....once.

Occasionally, they'd try it again a few months down the road thinking no one would remember and then it was very simple and very satisfying; "Get the hell out of my restaurant and don't ever come back you loathsome pig."

I've returned running shoes after several (20+) miles on them with absolutely no issues, as have many of my running friends.

And this is something you feel good about?

now we know why the price of shoes are so high comma it's people like this who take advantage of the system.

I think running stores such as Ruuners Roost and Roadrunner Sports offer a 60 day return policy. And they expect that you will have run in them. No other way to find out if they work for you or not. But yes, I'm sure that's a big reason why the prices are so high.

I've always wondered how many people exploit these policies and how many are using it for the way it was intended.

FWIW, I don't think I could take back a pair of shoes that I had worn that much, just doesn't seem right to me.

Dude I hear ya, I tried this girl for three holes and got terrible blisters. Although I was able to return.

Seriously though, I have never returned a pair of shoes that were uncomfortable. I thought it was common knowledge that if you wear them you can't return them. Also they aren't made by golf discount, so they owe you nothing, contact Nike. The same way when you buy tires, its on whomever the manufacturer is. Not joe blow tire.

All comes down to return policy. It's either printed on the receipt or in the disclaimer upon check out. Sounds like the business owner was taken advantaged of before and wants to pay that forward to golf discount.

I don't have a problems with it. As stated in another post, many running stores accept returns and expect you to run in them. Running shoes change seemingly monthly and new versions are different than the previous models. Not abusing the system - I don't return claiming they are new. If you are a runner the absolutely last thing you want to do is change shoes if they are working for you, but one has to art some point.

I'd like to clarify here. The quoting got fouled up. I'm not the one who asked if someone would feel good about returning. I was the one who said the running stores expect you to run in them. Check out post #133.

So one 20+ mile run or two 20+ mile runs were not enough to tell if the shoes were ok......

At that point, is there any difference in the shoes being returned?

Enough with this silly running shoe comparison.

Specialty stores can have unique return policies. That often means their products are priced higher accordingly, compared to retail chains and discount shops.

But golfdiscount.com isn't a specialty store. Its a discount store. Its right there in the name. And their policy clearly states used apparel cannot be returned.

Just because one store might accept a return for used shoes, doesn't mean another would. Or that its acceptable to abuse a store's return policy to return shoes that have worn out in the mud. Not sure why that is so hard to understand.

This reads like there was an argument over the phone.

OP, just out of curiosity, which Nikes were they?

OP is right in that many retailers do accept returns of this nature. I will say though that especially for online retailers, I DO often look at return policies before I buy. I accept the risk that I may have to pay return shipping, or not be able to return the item, or i can return it but I'll only receive credit.
