I currently have 3 sets I tend to rotate. MP 33's with rifle flighted 6.0's, MP 14 s with rifles 6.0, MP 29's with KBS tour stiff, and also a number of three woods. Tour edge exotics limited edition ( the one with the waves on the bottom) currently has the starting slot. It replaced an ancient Sonartec 1.5 with a penley x ( plays stiff). Fun to vary it up sometimes. Play my best with the 14's despite the weaker lofts (50 deg pw) so I club up when playin those. But If I had to choose just one, the 29's are my fav. Black oxide finish abd just love the turf interraction. I still have my original set which Id like to get refinished in black oxide to.

I have a set of MP33's with DG S300 AMT's and a set of MP32 with PX Rifle 6.0. I've been playing the 33's for the past few years, but am tempted to give the 32's another go around. It probabaly wouldn't be smart bc last summer I had the best ballstriking season of my life and I've always liked the 33's better, but they just look so badass.

I've got sixseven sets right now, though one is awaiting reshafts. I take different irons to the range with me quite often, and each set gets an outing at least once a year to a course.

1) MP-4 set: for serious rounds; not that I play any serious rounds, but these are my front line troops.

2) Mac VIPs (1980s reissue). These are my favourite at the moment. Got them last year, and they are going to be my main iron this year.

3) Mac 1980 MTs. Old beat up set I got cheap last year and reshafted. I will take them out, play them till they are finished, then use the shafts in set number 7.

4) Mizuno MS-11s. Probably the easiest to play right through the set, but I hit them too high to play them in windy conditions. Great summer iron.

5) Masda Prototypes. Recently bought for peanuts (got lucky). Not sure about them yet. Need to take them to the range.

6) Honma PP 737s. These are in great condition--probably refinished and reshafted--and go from 3i to 11i. Yes, I have an 11-iron! It's really just a 54* PW. Anyway, at just under 10,000 yen (US$90?), I couldn't pass them up. Just got them last month, and haven't really hit them yet, but they look great at address.

7) RAM Camber Sole. These are waiting for the shafts from the Mac MTs. They go from 3i to SW, and the SW is really easy to hit.

I'm also eyeballing a set of MP-33s with Modus 120 X shafts (limited edition blue), and some Miura MB 5003 irons....

Irons are my "thing". I have a small putter collection (all cheap), one driver, two 4-woods, one 7-wood, a few extra wedges....and plenty of irons. I will say, though, that 7 sets of irons is nowhere near a lot by the standards of this site.

Three sets; Ping G's, Maltby KE4 Tour+ and KZG OCII's . . . all cavity backs. The Maltby's and KZG's have little offset, so I'm still getting used to Ping's generous offset and trying to like it. My senior swing speed does not exploit Ping's hotter face and stronger lofts as well as a younger player, so distance gains are minimal, maybe 3/4 club at most. The soft-cast KZG's have the best feel on contact. The Maltby's are most forgiving, despite Ping's wider sole. Shaft characteristics and swing weights are common throughout.

ONE!!! I hate changing irons. I usually keep one set until they are worn out. It takes so long to get used to each individual iron within a set. You have to figure out your carry distance with each iron, and your trajectory with each iron. How far they fly into the wind, down wind, with a cut, with a draw, etc.... It takes a couple of months to transition to a new set and really feel comfortable. I just hate putting myself through that period of uncertainty. Nothing worse than hitting a flush 8 iron right at the stick and watching it plug in the bunker short, or flushing a 6 iron right at the center of the green and watching it bound over the back.

Two sets: MP4s and Mac MT Pro Cs from 2008. There is nominal difference in the way they look at address and also in performance...I could easily play either set as my one and only but it is nice to change the bag occasionally. It gives the feeling of putting a new set in the bag which is always nice ?

Hey guys,

I know over the years I've noticed that there are a lot of guys who have multiple sets of irons just wondering how many actually play different sets on a regular basis. Is it course conditions? Or we all just ho's that don't want to give up our old clubs?

These are the four sets that I play per the following criteria:

Miura Black Boron Baby Blades

- My gamer and on season set. They are clearly my #1s. I also have them for when want to play a 2i since it is my only set with one. I will only play them when course conditions are good. No sanded fairways for them, TYVM.

Miura Baby Blades (satin)

- My #2 gamer set. Spec'ed almost identical to the #1s and are essentially their backups. I play this set the most because I want to prolong the life of my #1 set as long as possible.

Miura Retro Tournament Blades

- My rainy weather and off season set. Also it is my beater, practice, and training set. I use it when course and weather conditions are bad, but also I like to use it to practice in the worst of conditions because it is heavier than both my baby blade sets so when I switch back to them, they feel so light and easy to swing. Also these have a larger head size than the baby blades so again switching to the baby blades makes ball contact easier. I love this set for the Miura forged steel feel and can play it just about as well as the baby blades, but it just doesn't feel quite as good. Still great, but the baby blades are just sublime feeling.

Mizuno MP-67s

- My travel set. I will not put my Miura sets on a plane. Also these were my original gamers. I love this set because I played it for 9 years and Mizuno feel is buttery good, but nothing beats the feel of Miura forged steel in my experience. I can also go back to playing it like riding a bike and play it just as good as all my other sets even though I don't play it nearly as often.

Is the OP saying do or don't play? I guess both.

I just purchased a back up set of the irons I currently play for a very good price, Mizuno MP-30's. Don't know why I love 'em so much I haven't found anything better despite giving a bunch of similar sets a chance. Which is why I have a pile iron sets I have tried to like: TM TP CB & Mizuno MX-25, MP-32, MP-60 & MP-37.

The big reason I ended up with this many sets is from tinkering with shaft set ups and different builds from shaft materials, lengths, swing weights and flexes. Pevious favourite set was the MX-25 with a progressive MOI build but the MP-30's with factory installed Rifle shafts and only slight progressive swing weights. These when struck well are simply way better for me in accuracy, consistency and have an incredible feel. I am considering the 2nd set of MP-30's as a possible test for a MOI rebuild to compare apple to apple.

Probably the hunter and tinkerer instincts in me that are satisfied with more tools and weapons.

Out of the 10 or so sets I own I would have to say that I play 3 or 4 at any given time. Mizzy mp 32, Scott sg 03, Miura cb 202, and my newest set is Miura cb 1008 JDM. I'm very curious about Srixon, I like what I've seen the last few years from them. The Titleist 962B was the catalyst for me. It was the first players club I ever owned. My all time favorite would have to be my cb 202's or mp 32's. I wish I could find some 202's with conforming grooves per the rule change in 2010? I regret selling my Titleist 681's , however I don't regret selling my Miura cb 501's they were a disappointment to me. Too much offset and I was talked into a nippon shaft that I didn't care for. For some strange reason I've always wanted to own a set of ping eye 2 becu's. Probably because they were out of my price range back in the day.

One set of irons 4-P always. 3-iron I rotate between a few favourites

I keep backup utilities, long irons, lob wedges. But always only keep one set of irons at any given time

Yeah I hear you with regards to the 3 iron. Just picked up a T-mb a few weeks ago. For some reason I'm obsessed with that 3 iron, 3 hybrid, and 7 wood configuration. I think I preferred a 3 iron or 7 wood over a hybrid.

One. The game is hard enough. Why make it harder?

It's damn hard to develop any consistency when your tools aren't consistent from day to day.

Could not have said it better!

Basically 2. Got a set of Ping G's on the way and will play them at home. I'm usually home 70% of the time.

When at my coastal condo I have a set of Burner 2.0's for a bag I maintain there. I also have an old set of eye 2's I pull out once a year just for the heck of it.
