How many sets of irons don you play?

I have four sets right now. Been too lazy to sell a couple of sets. I like to have two sets around just in case.

Backups for everything except irons. Just the J40s for now.

I usually tinker with putting together a winter iron set but get rid of it in spring.

I usually mess with my drivers and hybrids

Over the past 2 years I have probably played 10 sets. This year I finally got it down to 1 main set and 1 backup set that is a little more forgiving for off days. Both have same specs just different heads. Has really helped my consistency.

Will however make an effort to get down to two sets since I'm spending almost equal time

in two different countries and don't want to bring one set back and forth. The Wishon 575 will stay but the jury is still out on the second. Any input regarding the decision?

I have 3 sets, but only really use two (Srixon z745/z545 and Fourteen TC530). One stays at the course and one at home/for travel. My mp-54s has seen maybe 3-5 rounds and 1-2 range sessions, probably should put it up on BST.

Just wanted to say that I played all the clubs in your sig line for quite some time. All great clubs that I wish I still had and once I came back to the game from a hiatus which I sold everything I had back then, I tried to find the 845's and V Steels to put a bag back together with no luck. I ended up finding some deal on Cally's and slowly put a bag together!

 

That said, I currently have two sets. One I will game in summer months and one cheaper/knockoff type set that I will use for Spring and late Fall time.

I have several and used dozens over the years. Most Bridgestone now. J40 cb and dpc, J33 cb, J38 dpc, j15 cb. Just can't decide which to go with permanently. Shot my lowest score ever (twice) w/ the J33 cb, have 3 of them, one of which is mint and barely used. I should just sell the rest and keep them in the bag forever.

How many I own and how many I play are two different things. Irons I play:

 

Mizuno Mp18 MMC& SC combo set, played when I play a full 14 club bag

Scratch EZ-1 (4,6,8,PW), when I play my half set (which is becoming a majority of my golf)

I have a 5 club iron/wedge set coming from NCW that will replace the Scratch irons soon (hopefully soon!)

 

Now, irons I own is a little different. I'm not always great at selling things when I'm done, so I have some dispositions coming up.

Just one for me, Ping i25. Still have my first set, Tour Edge Comp LX, but those are for when people visit. Never thought about a second set because I'm not certain it would really change my game. Maybe if I'm swinging poorly and coming over the top and cant fix it, a more off set iron would help but that's not a pattern I want to get into.

I have a couple sets, S55's for when I am grooved and a set of I25's for when my swing isn't quite right and I need a little more forgiveness. Travel a lot and sometimes I don't have time to stay grooved. Also nice when I travel and need to send a set ahead or a friend needs a loaner set. Nice to have 2 sets.

I only have one set. Although, I thought about putting a bag together for guests or for my son when he gets older. Right now, I usually sell anything extra.

For many years I only owned one set. This past year I kinda blew up and now have:

- Mizuno MP-57

- Mizuno MP-14

- WIlson Staff Fluid Feel

 

The DBM's will be the primary gamers. I'll likely have a second set of blades in a Sunday bag for walking.
