March Madness 2017

It may be UNC's year. After the heartbreak last year, and they get the win on the final shot in a big game this year. That really hurts me to say though. I will be rooting hard for Oregon and whoever else has to play UNC should they get by Oregon. I dont care what UNC is ranked, come tournament time they always seem to get hot and roll. ESPN showed odds to win it all and had Gonzaga at 50 something percent and UNC about 25%.

Something interesting I noticed. Many of the fab freshmen (Monk, Tatum, Josh Jackson, etc) really struggled in the later rounds.

Gonzaga and UNC are showing the experience of upperclassmen can make a huge difference.

I agree. Thats partly why I would love to see Allen, Kennard, and Jackson come back. Have a seasoned Sr and Jr and a Soph who has some big game experience.

Yesterday hurt. Real bad. As a fan of Kentucky and for any hopes of my bracket...

Go Zags, my father went there so I've always been a fan, great for Few to finally get them to the final four but man have they had everything fall right for them, no AZ, no Duke or Nova, and I think a relatively easy path early.

Giles declared for the draft. I get it, hes had three (I think) major knee surgeries and cant really risk blowing out his knee again in college. If he gets the chance to get paid then go ahead. I know he was the number one recruit out of last years class but I didnt see much out of him that would impress me enough to be a lottery pick. I thought he could have been a better scorer in the minutes he played but he had some good games and was tough defensively and I loved his intensity.

Expecting Tatum to announce shortly and then hold my breath on Kennard and Allen though I think Allen stays.

Once in a while you'd get a glimpse of the talent. He has serious hops, and goes up quick.

I really thought he could have made a difference against South Carolina with his athleticism if they had gone to him some.

Can't blame him though. Like you said, with those knees, every game is a chance to be career ending. Take the money while you can.

Really, South Carolina has six fouls in the second half to Gonzaga's 12 or 13.

The offensive foul on Gonzaga's big man Collins (at about the 2:30-300 minute mark) was as bad as I've seen in the tournament.

I truly believe it's time for the officiating to be a full time job, not a second one.

Same crew that worked North Carolina-Kentucky game that Calipari (sp?) talked about.

Wasn't as bad as the no call on the huge elbow for position from zags big man on silva at the top of the post. Then called silva for giving small push back for position.

Carolina mugged gonzaga in the second half. There's no way you play the defense they play and only have 4-5 fouls with 5 to go in the half. I referee little kids and middle school and feel like I can do as good as the college refs. It's unbelievable on how bad officiating has been in this tourney.

That's how I feel.

And yes Blade, I saw the play you were talking about too. Although I don't think it was nearly as bad as the offensive foul on Collins. For the record, I wasn't rooting for either team.

I love college ball but it's honestly getting hard for me to watch because of the officiating.

Think about this. I don't know if it's the exact same crew, but I know for certain one of them is. But he worked the Kentucky-UNC game where a much less physical Kentucky team was in serious foul trouble by halftime. Then tonight a very "in your face" physical SC team has just five fouls late in the half?

yup officiating was terrible all year as well it really is an epidemic. Tougher to realize the first weekend of the madness cause there is so much going on but it's pathetic that these guys are top 10 officials

In a way I agree. But I'll add that sc in your face defense never showed up tonight. What you saw tonight was mild defense from them. That's why they lost. That and shooting 38% from the field.

I wondered about their offense (actually just up above, post #72), they were so much more efficient than normal, you wondered when it would end. It was a great run for them though.

The one guy who called so many fouls against Kentucky in the carolina game was John Higgins or something. Look up Kentucky basketball message boards. They hate him. Which they should.

Never fails when someone is playing Carolina, one of the top 2 players will get two fouls real quick. Happened to one of the Oregon kids last night. Happens every game. I would be willing to bet karnowski has two fouls real early while Meeks lays on him on the paint and no calls.

I hate Carolina. And their years and years of scandals

Yeah, it got pretty ugly. He owns a roofing business in Omaha and Kentucky fans flooded the website with negative reviews trying to lower his BBB rating. Also received death threats (this was reported in the Omaha World Herald). He was bad, but that's going too far.

it may just be me, but I really think there is a problem. The networks know it, very, very seldom do they show a replay of a questionable call, and rarely do the announcers make a comment about one (occasionally, but not enough). That's part of the reason I like Doris Burke so much on the call, she's the one will question the officiating ona regular basis.

Cats fan here. Yes the calls were horrible against us the worst were the put backs by Bam and the reach in on Willis on a loose ball. BUT what some dumb Cats fans are doing to that poor ref is awful and don't represent us as a fan base. With that being said go Gonzaga! At least those kids take real classes! I loved when people were hyping up Luke Maye for going to his Business 101 class as a sophomore...dude...I took that class sem 1 year 1.
