Playing KBS Tour V vs Dynamic Gold AMT

Who has played both and what did you notice?

I currently play the Tour V X ss1x and am thinking about going to the X100 SS1x. I was fit to play them straight in, but have always been hesitant to do so because I'm worried I'll start over swinging or something. My irons are fit to being 1" over standard and I have no idea how that affects shaft flex, but the tour v's frequency read to regular stiff. Would it hurt if the shaft is a hair to stiff? My 6iron average is 96mph, but I can get to 100 if I step on it. I probably should just pull the trigger and try it. I hit the ball pretty high now and kind of miss the lower short irons.

I went from the AMT's to the Tour V's. It has taken about 10 rounds for me to let go of the DG ball flight stigma. I have been scoring so much better with the higher ball flight in regards to the landing angles of my irons. Try a little more forward press with your Tour V's before you make the switch, it seemed to be the magic bullet with my AP2's. 1" over standard seems a bit long. I'm 6' and play 1/8" under with my irons and 1* up with my Tour V's.

DG ball flight stigma? Can you explain? I ask seriously bc I've always been interested in trying the tour v / modus 130 type shafts.

If you go an inch over with that swing speed you want them straight in or maybe even hard stepped once.

Inch over makes them play much softer, not to mention the swing weight will increase 6 points. If you really need them an inch over I'd consider a custom grind to take off some weight. Depends on the club head of course, and you ruin the heads for resale, but most people hate the head feel D-8 or D-9.

Took me a while to appreciate the Tour V ball flight. They came in my hogans and i Initially had a problem with the higher ball flight. I gave it some time and learned to love it. The low spin lets them be playable in the wind, which was my biggest concern, and they can still be flighted down if needed.

The only Problem?? The tips bend when hitting off mats in the winter. I'm going to have to send 2 of them them back to KBS soon. 7 and the pitch are tweaked. Bummer. I just don't know why they can't figure out the tip weakness problem. Sad really. It's a really nice preforming shaft and I like the fact it's just a touch lighter than the DG line. I have a set of c tapers sitting in the basement with a couple bent tips as well.

Its the lower flat ball flight. With the 15 Prov1x especially the flight seems to go out more then up and the ball peaks super late and falls straight down with the DG's. When I first started hitting the Tour V's the ball flight looked like a underhand toss. Really high and rounded. Just looks wrong. I finally got it figured out with a more forward press and keeping the face square longer on the take away produces a nice hot piercing flight. It's a higher ball flight for sure compared to the DG AMT's but less spinney. If you have DG AMT shafts now, go hit your 5 iron, This is exactly what the trajectory looks like throughout my set. Even my wedges seem to have my 5 iron trajectory.

Agree with Honda. The flight looks funny at first, but once you understand it, it's pretty awesome. They get up fairly fast then just stay there because they aren't real spinny.

Just kind of plop onto the green and stop. It's a very under appreciated shaft. Just that damn tip problem that kind f ruins things.

Don't see how one would consider the tour v and modus 130 remotely similar. Tour v is stiff tip and modus 130 is soft tip.

I only have Tour V experience in a 3 iron, but I notice a similar flight with the AMT but maybe a little more spin and a better feel to me - I previously played KBS X softstepped and notice a similar flight in the long irons because of the lighter weight but the great standard DG feel on the short irons.

Both are stiff butt/stiff mid/softer(er) tip. My understanding is the EI profiles are very similar.

At 96 mph for a 6 iron you probably shoulda hard stepped rather than the opposite in a Tour V. Playing them an inch over softened them up a bit too.
