Bridgestone e6 golf ball

Just wondering for those who played the original E6 golf ball are disappointed that Bridgestone divided the E6 between the soft and the speed golf balls. My thought is Bridgestone should have stuck with just the E6 and possibly created a new model outside of the E6 model. It just seems to me that the E6 has been over exploited for money purposes, and in the process has added confusion could to the original E6 model. This is my opinion that when I run out of my supply of original E6 golf balls I will move on to most likely Srixon.

My understanding was the e6 soft was essentially the new version of the old e6 and the e6 speed was the new e7 with the e5 line being just discontinued. I've heard the e6 outsold the other skews by quite a bit so Bridgestone wanted to capitalize on that.

I have not tried the new e6 balls yet though so I have no playing experience to verify if this is true. But from what I understand the e6 soft is the ball for fans of the old e6. Maybe someone who has experience with them can chime in on whether this is true or not.

I have played several rounds with the E6 Soft. It is a great ball . Very long and straight.. I have hit some real bombs with this ball. Like any non tour ball around the greens can be challenging but overall I really like this ball. I think many of us could be very happy to play the E6 Soft as their regular ball. Give it a try.. You will be impressed.

Have you had a chance to compare to the E6 Speed?

Tried the e6 Soft and hated it! Current ball is the 330RXS and saw no comparison, "for me", at least. E6 Soft was a rock, and I use to adore the Pinnacle Golds!

So you're saying that the $40 ball is better than the $29 ball?

The Soft is not a rock. Feels pretty decent off the irons, which is always the test for me, and has a reasonable amount of spin for a ball that is marketed as straight distance.

I purchased 6 doz 2016 E6's online this past winter. They seem to perform well enough for casual golf rounds, and will occasionally use them during competition play depending on the situation, but usually a urethane. To me, Bridgestone confused the E6 users a bit by dividing the ball into two directions, and disregarded the original E6 golf ball. After this year I will be choosing a different golf ball to game, maybe even before that? I think I might try to sell them off as a matter of fact.

I am trying out the e6 speed right now. I had a really tough time trying to decide the right one to try though. I chose the speed for two reasons:

1. I felt like it would spin less and go farther off the tee, and Im placing those two things at a premium bc I want to hit a lot of hybrid off the tee in an effort to do whatever it takes to hit an approach from the fairway.

2. I felt like it would be firmer off the putter than the soft, which Ive decided is important bc my putter insert is soft and I can control my speed with a firm ball better.

Honestly though, I don't even know if I was correct about these assumptions. There's not a lot of info out there. I'd definitely welcome a softer ball off the irons and wedges if it accomplished the above things still.

Can someone please let me know what the advantage is of a 3pc surlyn like the e6 compared to a 2pc surlyn like the Supersoft, Soft Feel, DT TruSoft etc?

I also would like to see my stock of them, we'll see how that goes

Yeah their the original E6 im sure . But it's a gamble as to what you'll get. Most of them were E6 though. This is the "assorted practice balls" for $3.99

But if your not a gambler then go for the E6 Mint for $9.99. The ones they sent were mint pretty much in the practice balls. Def no marks, just a tiny bit stained. Prob were grass stained and then washed.

Here's a thought. IF the new E6 soft is just about the same as the old E6, they should have just called it the E6. Then they could have called the E6 Speed an E6+.

Why exploit the E6 name to begin with to create another golf ball, why not just leave the E6 alone and call the new model the E*? To me they screwed up the E6 lineage.

I really liked the e5 ball and wish that Bridgestone hadn't discontinued them. I just bought several dozen because I'm not crazy about the e6 soft, especially around the greens and for putting.

I've really never been a Bridgestone guy. Years ago I played the b330 s and thought it was the worse ball ever.

I usually play prov1X, and two years ago the srixon.

This year a friend of mine in the pro shop said you should play the e6. Mostly because of my handicap (10) and of cost. I bought a box and I'm thoroughly impressed.

I actually think their soft and my friends think I'm nuts. Drives that would punish me this ball just lands in the fairway instead of OB or in the rough.

Titleist is still a great ball. But for 2 boxes for 40 dollars I'm thoroughly impressed.

I still want to try the srixon z star and q star tour and as well as the Bridgestone line.

If you have budget I think it's a great ball and my current gamer for right now.

I played this weekend and was able to compare the speed and soft! My driver swing speed is 95-100. The soft felt soft as expected and was about a club length shorter on irons and 10-15 shorter on driver. Was able to stop the speed a little shorter than the soft. Both putted well but speed seemed to roll a little straighter. Seems as I will be playing the speed this summer.

I was really hoping for distance gains with this ball bc I'm wanting to lay back with 4 iron/3 hybrid a lot more off the tee in an effort to cut out double bogeys. I was long the first few greens on approach. Had to dial it back a full club the rest of the round. My best shot of the day was a pured 4 iron off the tee that went 225 and was even with my playing partners 3 wood drive.

I caught my approach wedge thin about 110 into that green. It was straight at the flag but going pretty hard, I thought it was going to run off of the short side of the green without question. It checked up right where it landed 8 feet from the pin. Now I might have actually gotten better spin than I realize with the thin shot but the ball was going low and hard. I was seriously impressed it held the green.

The ball rolled well off the putter and I couldn't believe the way it knuckled straight down on some pretty poor swings. I can think of two approach shots that easily would've been gone if they were Pro Vs.

Only complaint is a couple of well struck pitches ran past the hole to take par out of play but thats just a matter of getting used to where you land your shot. It would be a little tough in a short sided scenario. Either way that ball saved me strokes and maybe gained me a couple off the putter. Was great Im glad you had a similar experience.

Bought a box of 100 orange used e6. A buck a piece. Love how they fly. Like others have said, they are not prone to green stoppage but work for me. At least I can hit the green with these.

Last two rounds-79 and 83-the ball works for me. When I hit them well, they fly well. When I putt well, they roll well. When I hit the water , they sink well

I was a fan of the previous e6 and played them most of the time. They were as long as anything else and I was acclimated to the green side play. More than anything I loved the feel.

Now trying the e6 soft and they are shorter off my driver and irons. I noticed it right away and did an A/B last weekend to make sure I wasn't imagining it. Driver SS is 90-95. Also, oddly enough, the old ball feels softer.
