Philly area clubs

Are there any Green Valley CC or Whitemarsh Valley CC members here (or people who have played them)? Which is the more challenging course and what are your overall thoughts? I'm in my 20's so I'm hoping to join a club with a strong young-member presence.

 

I looked at several other clubs but I think I've narrowed it down to these two based on price and location. Other suggestions would be appreciated, though.

Can't speak to Green Valley as I haven't been there, but I really like Whitemarsh Valley. The conditioning has been really good every time I've played there, and word on the street is they've got a very active group of guys who play out there. Not sure what their mean age is though. Agree with many who say the two holes across the street don't really mesh but they are still good holes and overall I really like the layout.

 

Hard to go wrong in that geographic area. I know there are a ton of guys in their 20's who are good players around your cap and better at Philadelphia Cricket Club. I'm sure if you've looked in that area you've checked out PCC but it may be worth the premium to join there if playing with good players your age is important to you. Plus the course is as good as it gets. Like literally as good as it gets.

 

But yea, between Cricket, Philly Country, Whitemarsh, Ace Club, and Gulph Mills you really can't go wrong in terms of course layout and conditioning. One of the best collections of private clubs in the country right there. I'm leaving out Merion because of the invite only aspect, but also right there.
