Plenty of food choices downtown, Shorewood, or by bay shore mall, depends on what you want to eat & what area.

 

Think the brewers are in town 9/9, lakefront brewery or sprecher brewery are always fun.

For food, if you go directly east to Oakland Ave in Shorewood, you'll get your pick of good restaurants, primarily upscale pub and bistro type places. Harry's Bar and Grill might be your best bet for a restaurant with good bourbon selection. If you head that way, Otto's on 3476 N. Oakland will be your go-to for bourbon, but will be anywhere from 5-15 blocks south of your dining choices on Oakland.

 

If you don't need a bar with your meal, the legendary Solly's is right down the street from your hotel. for a butter burger and 1960s diner vibe.

Also, if you've never had custard (Milwaukee's version of ice cream made with eggs; halfway between ice cream and gelato) you need to get over to Kopps, also just down the street from you. Kopps also has huge tasty burgers and chicken sandwiches.

Less than a mile from Erin Hills is the Tally Ho, a fine establishment with excellent pub food and an unpretentious vibe. Last time I was in there in Spring 2017, ESPN was throwing threw a shindig for all EH caddies and grounds crew. Really fun!

 

Whistling is a bit out of my area and I don't know much about Sheboygan except Legend Larry's is a great place for wings and a cold one. Three Sheeps Brewing is a must if you like craft beer.

Typically it's the best time of year to golf up here. Dry in the high 60s to low 70s. The more casual golfers up here put their clubs away after Labor Day weekend. Fast rounds are the norm, and some great prices to be had during the week.

Both times we played EH we ate at the Little Red Inn down the street Hartford. Old school supper club, fantastic food. Steaks, chops, schnitzel etc. Highly recommend the schnitzel.

In Sheboygay for good beer-8th St. Ale Haus has excellent selection of craft beer on tap....you can check there taplist as they keep it up to date on their website. 3 sheeps is also a worthy stop.

Is that the place on the corner of K and 175? I pass by there probably 50 times on the way to Washington County and on my way back. looks like it would be a good place to stop for some food.

 

I like taking K because you come down that big hill and you get to see Big Cedar Lake on my way back home.

 

this won't be much help to this discussion but it's been a tradition of mine to stop at this little bar in Batavia called the Creekside Inn. It's a little hole-in-the-wall place. very friendly staff, not much of a beer selection but that's okay cuz the menus really good. they offer daily specials and I always get the shrimp Po-Boy, which is pretty good, and not the sort of thing you'd expect on a menu at a place like that.

 

the two places I've been to in West Bend are- West Bend Tap and Tavern. I thought that they had a really good burger selection and a nice menu and the tap beer list was pretty solid. the other place I went to was called the Norbert and they have a good beer selection and they offer Tapas or small plates or whatever you want to call it, not really my thing but if someone's interested in that kind of food that would be a good place to stop. the atmosphere looked like it was really fun.

Mee-Kwon is the course I grew up playing!

I can still picture the watertower of the Fromm dog food factory off the first tee and the smells that wafted over on a hot, humid summer morning.

Definitely a fun layout. And, it was always kept in great condition! I'm sure the dog food plant is either gone or has some type of odor control system in place, by now.

I hit the longest drive of my life on the downhill #2 at MeeKwon. A December day just before Christmas that turned mild. The course was closed and the ground was frozen. I hit a solid drive that landed in the middle of the fairway and the ball bounced like I had hit a cart path...again...and again...and again. I walked to the ball, turned and lasered the tee box. 347 yards. So this is what it feels like to be DJ or Rory!
