Senior LI, NY Golfer Moving to Tarrant County, TX

Hello: I am a retired senior and will be moving to Tarrant, County Texas in September. My Son lives in Colleyville, TX. I'll live in an Apartment nearby. Golf is my "PASSION" and I play 30 to 50 rounds per year. I walk with a Sun Mountain Speed Cart. Having made frequent visits to Texas, I know that golf is considerably more expensive than on Long Island and also know that many public courses in Texas do not allow walking with a Pushcart. Why this is so I do not understand. I was a course marshall in NY for 5 years. The notion that mid to low cap players who walk are detrimental to the pace of play is pure folly! But that is for another discussion. Being a senior on a "Fixed" I was wondering if there is anyone on this forum from the Tarrant county, Texas area who can suggest some courses in the area who welcome seniors who walk with push carts. I'm still a single digit player (Albeit from the Middle Tees) :tongue: if that helps, and lastly where and when is a good time to play with other seniors. In NY, the heavy population of Week-Day senior golfers is the "Life Blood" of Public Golf Courses! I played with my Son a few years ago at The Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine, Texas midweek, and while it was his treat, when I saw how much the Greens Fees were, I almost went into Cardiac Arrest! :crazy:

I'm not as familiar with Tarrant County.. but you should know that Cowboys Golf Club isn't really representative of the average public round cost, it's probably 3x higher at least at Cowboys.

All of the Ft. Worth City municipal courses are good for walking with a push cart. Green fees are very reasonable as well.

Played this morning at Pecan Valley.......their Senior association plays every Wednesday, 8:00AM tee off. Green fee was $16. Let me know when you get settled, come play with us on a Wednesday.........30 to 40 is the general turn out and good group of guys that enjoy playing.
