Dynamic Gold 120 reviews.

I ordered my MP-20s with the dg 120 s300, I have only played the old 130g dg s300 for 20 years. After playing with them for over a month, the 120s feel pretty much identical to the 130g version, just slightly, I mean slightly lighter. Definitely a good shaft if you like the dynamic gold feel.

Up with this thread.

I have regular DG S300 Sensicore in my MP-33 and am a high spin/high launch player (working hard on eliminating that flip). I’d like to bring my ball flight down a little.

Is the 120g X100 too big a step in the stiff direction?

I have 2nd set of clubs with regular X100s and like the low launch, but they get heavy towards the end of the round.

I have around 95 mph SS with a 7i. 39 y/o, 6‘2“, hockey player, pretty quick transition.

FWIW, I was fitted with the Mizuno Shaft Optimizer 3D and it put me in a KBS $ Taper 130X- but that’s what this thing seems to do to many people.

Similar stats here, although I am a few years older than you. I play hockey as well, and am 6foot1, 195lbs, but I fitted myself into the KBS $-TAPER HT 120 shafts, with the heavier, lower-balanced shaft tip for my irons.

They are perfect.

I am looking to try the DG 120 X100 shafts in my wedges to replicate the same 120 gram shaft weight, but my irons are all one inch longer than standard, so I need my wedges to be lengthened as well now.

I’ve been playing the DG120 in X100 for a while now, and they do exactly what I expected. Fantastic shafts, I’m a fan of the DG „thump“.

I have S400 TI in my wedges and they feel good, but could fly lower- but that’s more of a swing issue. They’re great for those feel shots.

Since people are asking for more thoughts...

I'm hardly a scientist and don't spend any time with a launch monitor.  I also suck.

I had DG120 S300s in my Mizuno JPX921 Tours.  I swapped them for basic DG S400s because I tinker and experiment and my clubs don't stay together for very long when I'm bored.

Oddly, some of the "sweetness" of the clubs went away.   The DG S400s are just a bit more wooden than the DG120 S300s.

I've got about four 7 irons and can't wait to put my DG120 S300 pull into a new head to swing it again.

I have never done a lot of shaft testing.  My PING i210s are shafted up with DG120 S300s and I am very happy with the feel and flight of the ball.

Would love to know how the DG120x100 compare to the $taper HTs… I play the HTs as well and enjoy them, but the wrx in me has me curious about the DG120s

Late entry here - recently got a great deal on the new Wilson Staff forged cb’s. They came with dg s300’s, the shaft a grew up with.
Found after one range session and one round that they played to soft for me and I could feel the extra heft late in the round.
Ordered the X100 120 3 iron shaft to ssx2 for the 5 iron. Definitely tightened up the dispersion and could feel the lighter weight.
I can feel the extra stiffness tho in the butt and having a little trouble elevating the 5i - like to hit a high soft fade that just falls to the right. Wondering if I should try the s400 120 either straight in or HSx1. Would like to be able to go after it a bit without loosing it the the left which I found was happening with the standard s 300’s. Driver ss around 105 - 34* 7 iron around 170 yds.

Anyone know how the butt stiffness of DG120 X100 compares to PX IO 6.5?

Once you get beyond the few inches, the IO is noticeably stiffer in the butt section and remains stiffer than DG120 through the middle.  When you get to the last few inches (tip), the IO is pretty linear and the DG 120 has a significant increase in stiffness, much stiffer than the IO.  Comparing these 2 shafts is like comparing a DG to a KBS Tour where you feel some action through the middle of the shaft with a DG and you feel some action in the tip with the KBS.  The IO profile is very similar to the KBS Tour and as expected the DG120 is very similar to the standard DG.

Reviving this thread - does anyone have any experience comparing the 120 X100's vs PX LZ 6.0's?

@jaffabell I've played DG 120 X100 and only demo'ed PX LZ 6.0, but here are my thoughts on comparison between the two

DG 120 X100

- stiffer overall

- soft handle/butt going to linear stiff mid through tip. not much feel outside of the soft handle

- low launch (for me, due to soft handle and late-ish release), mid/low spin.

PX LZ 6.0

- softer overall

- stiffer butt section. very soft mid with a distinct hinge

- for me, with the mid bend and late-ish release, hit moon balls. like, really high. quickly moved on from it in a fitting

It looks like you're already playing DG 120 X100. Not sure what you're hoping to change but if you're looking to add height and go a touch softer then LZ 6.0 could be an option. It's just a very different bend profile and feel to get used to.
