Pronunciation of manufacturer names

I used to pronounce Titleist - Tite-list. Until I read that the name came from Title. And the person that won the Title was the Title-ist.

although I think the original Euro pronunciation has the accent on the "Ad" AD-dee-das

You would think so, IF English were your native language. However, when I lived in Germany, several friends were convinced it was TEET-leist. There is some logic.

I've always said Dee-uh-mah-nuh and All-dee-la. I had never even heard All-dill-uh until a few days ago when my buddy at work said it. All-dill-uh just sounds stupid in my opinion.

The "Jose" is actually tough enough to pronounce in proper Spanish. The "jo" is like a harsh "ch" sound.

Either way as long as the names are pronounced reasonably well and isnt pronounced really silly i cant see how it matters too much. Most of its down to pronunciation like Diamana. In America it could be "dee-ah-ma-[b]nuh" [/b]but in ireland/great britain it could be "dee-ah-ma-[b]na[/b]"

Well, since this thread has been resurrected:
Here in Austria and Germany 99% of the people pronounce Titleist like this: Titt-lyste.
It's driving me crazy.

And to the commentators on Sky Germany the name of the current NO 6 is also "Tigavutz" (one word).

But these are people for whom English is not their first language.
What irritates me much more is the fact that many native English speakers (even on this board) insist on spelling Spalding "Spaulding" and Callaway "Calloway". I wonder where that is coming from.

pretty sure XXIO is pronounced ex-zee-ghee-oh(forgive me for this one, seems the japanese pronounce this very fast, so it's closer to zex-ee-oh)

also I'd like to note that this thread will never end, because we live in America, where we speak a modified anglo saxon language, that has been constantly changing every 100 years or so
