Edel SLS-01 (single length)

I play the 900 forged and yes, the top line is very thick....tiny heads considering how large the sweetspot is. Offset is minimal and in terms of sole design, the Edel with 12* of bounce seems to be just fine, even off of hard fairways.....i do prefer the Mizuno 900 forged sole but by a tiny margin.

* This set gets better and better each time i take them out !

Thanks for the replies on the top line ... It doesn't look to overwhelming to me, I assume because of the shorter blade.

I play Hogan Ft Worth blades right now with steelfibers and they have both thin top line and short blade length.

Can't wait to try these, get fitted and see how this works out - I really like how Edel has set this up..

Keep the playing/results reports coming-- I am very interested-- much appreciated!

Man i'm so torn on this decision. I play the BB but got fit about a month ago for the Edels. I can't make my mind up.

Measurement ≠ Meaning. Motion can’t be taught. It must be experienced. You don’t teach a swing. You design the chaos in which a swing is discovered.

Golf facts = reduction of a complexity which remains unknown. A way to sell certainty where none exists.

I'm still enjoying the hell out of these clubs. General thoughts:

- I'm still getting comfortable with partial shots with the long wedges. I hit them great in practice & sometimes balk on the course. I have no idea why I'm mental.

- These clubs go HIGH in the short irons & fly well in the long irons. Even mishits with the long irons go pretty well, but definitely fly lower.

- Thin shots, like miss the grooves thin shots, with short irons go a long, long way. Don't miss really thin. Nothing good happens.

- Punch shots and half shots are incredibly fun. The single length really seems to make this easier for me to wrap my head around, and the shorter length makes controlling the longer irons seem effortless when hitting partial and feel shots.

Are the short irons feeling normal now. When I tested a single length set they just felt really long

I wouldn't say "normal". I hit them great in practice, but on the course I have hit some real stinkers... call it what they are, shanks. The 80 yard sand wedge is giving me fits on the course. It's OK one day and awful the next. I absolutely know it's in my brain because I can't hit the hosel to save my life on the range... it's amazing how expectations drive outcomes in this game.

I am chipping great with the longer clubs, I just have this balky hang-on shanky thing going with the half swings from 70-80 yards. It's infuriating.

thanks for all your feedback on these. Curious about 'trouble' shots... sidehill lies, punch outs from trees, etc. places you might have taken a longer club with the ball below your feet or longer club and gripped down, or a shorter club and delofted. How are you playing those shots? it would intuitively seem similar to the standard set....

It is similar. It doesn't take any special setup. In fact, I find the awful "ball below my feet" shots easier with the short irons, precisely because they're longer... and punching out with a 4 iron is silly easy. Seriously, I think I said this before - the 4 iron feels like a big-boy version of a Cleveland chipper when you're hitting these shots. It's really fun to hit them.

Just reshafted My Edel SLS with Aerotech 110s.....love my Edels even more now !!!! The long and mid irons are flying longer and higher while the short irons are lower and tighter......wayyyyyyyyyy better than Paderson specifically designed shafts

Really... all 7 iron shafts?

Nope, i used Aerotech 110 and tipped them them using parallel tips. Basically the 3/4 are soft stepped and the 5/6/7 are normal stepped and the 8/9 are hard stepped and the PW is HARD stepped ! i put the 3/4 at 37.75" and the 5/6/7/8 at 37.5" and the 9/PW at 37.25" My 3/4/5 iron also have massive weights at the bottom to help launch the ball higher ( 16g / 14g/ 12g ) The rest of the irons use 8g weights

Just curious. Is it possible to play single length from 3 to 7 iron and then let them get shorter for 8 through the wedges?

I can see value of single length for harder to hit irons but would seem to be harder to hit longer shafted short irons. Easier to hit standard length in those.

Callaway AI Smoke Triple Diamond Max 9 degree driver w/Diamana TB 60S

TaylorMade Stealth 5 wood (tour issue, 17 degrees) w/TPT Power Series 16 HI

Mizuno ST230 Max 7 wood w/UST LINQ Blue 7F4

New Level irons, 702CB+ 5-6, 702CB 7-P w/Project X Rifle 5.5

New Level SPN wedges (50SS, 54VS) w/Dynamic Gold s300

Ping Glide 4.0 wedge (58, E grind) w/Dynamic Gold s300

But to be fair about the shafting.. You bought these clubs off of BST and not fitted by Edel for the correct profile shaft for your swing. One of the attractions for me is getting fitted for the correct shaft profile.

Glad to here you still like them. I play Aerotech Steelfiber 95's and it is a great shaft..

According to David Edel on his youtube interview at the PGA show... Yes you can play them in many of various configurations.

Thats not fast....i go through at least 15 sets of irons and if you count different shafts, i probably go through about 30 sets of irons per season.....so, i think i did a great job of trying these out !

* The cobra forged one length didn't even last a day...i bought them in the evening and sold them a couple hours later.

Fair enough, although that might not be fast for you, I think most would agree that taking the time to reshaft, praising them, and within 2 weeks you let them go is a fast turn around. I'm just curious what happened in that 1-2 weeks that made you change your mind? Did you start noticing the longer irons not gapping appropriately? Shorter irons getting too much height? Etc....

I had the cobra forged once length. Played about 6 rounds with them and prob 6 range sessions as well. At first I thought they were the real deal until I started to notice the longer irons were coming up shorter so my gapping was off.

We all play this game for different purposes.....i am more of a tinkerer than a golfer.....i love trying new irons and then seeing what i can do to make them better. there is no end game here on a ultimate set of irons. Edels are incredible but that doesn't mean ill keep them forever, its just not what i do ! I play them and then ill give a review of what i think about them.....and then move on to the next interesting toy.

I had the Cobra Forged one lengths for six months. I also thought they were the real deals. But I found my gapping was off with the longer irons also. So I tried filling tin with a 4,5,6 TM hybrids. And went 6irons down.

Then I started swinging traditional lengths. Long story short. I have TM P770's now.

I picked up a set of these on here and now have one round a range session under my belt. It was an interesting round but good enough to keep around for a little while. Hit a few of my best irons of the year with 6-9 irons. The 4 I had trouble elevating on the range but hit it ok on the course. Actually hit a par 5 from about 220 with it but only carried it 195 to 200 and flight was low. Wedges were the challenge, Laid the sod over a full 60 and chunked a few mid range wedges. Also had some pretty good full swing ones. Really liked chipping with the irons and wedges. I did feel like the wedges were too upright though.

One thing I have noticed with the Edel - toe shots come up short. Like, really short. These may be the least forgiving toe-side clubs I have played in years.

I haven't noticed that as much, bc of the upright lie angles my misses have been more heel side and these handle that miss well. The sole design on these has also been a good fit for me so far
