Y-Cutter's: Do they shear the ball?

I'm currently playing x-tour wedges, the 60 with MD grooves is great but I am getting tired of spending $40 on balls to destroy 6-8 of them. Seriously, I have a shot of 50yds, pull my lob wedge out, look down at the ball and say goodbye. Are the Y-cutters more friendly to the ball?

I've got 54* & 58* TM Rac Black Y-cutters and don't shred Callaway HX Tour 56 balls (see my WITB signature). My angle of attack is fairly steep but I don't have alot of forward shaft lean (working on it) for what it's worth.

I had Spin Milled wedges for about two weeks before I decided to switch to something else. They tore balls up and just flat out spun too much for me. I went with the RAC TP's and they fit my game much better. They still spin like crazy but not too much and they are a lot easier on balls. JMHO.

Never had mine tear up balls and they're pretty new still.

I use a Vokey Spin Milled sand wedge and have never had a problem tearing the cover on a ball. I play Cally HX tour 56 and they easily last an entire round for me. And that's even backing up the occasional shot.

I haven't had a problem with them and my Bridgestone E5's.

I play 52/56/60 Y-cutters. When I got them new, they did shear my Pro-V1xs. But after playing about a dozen rounds with them they don't do that anymore, but I still get a great deal of spin out of them. Just last week I backed up a sand wedge about 20 feet, but the cover of the ball was fine.

I have y cutter 54 and 58 2006 black finish and the one ball that is most easily abraded is the 2006 Bridgestone B330 (not the s)---the 2007 ball is much more durable. I only have issues with this ball--unfortunately I have a lot of them.
