Rorys Putter this week

Recommended Posts

I bought an M1 based on how he did with that......and i cannot putt with it....used it once and im selling it real cheap.....went with the Newport 2 instead....much better for me.....the Newport 2 resembles Rorys original scotty he won 2 majors with

Do you think anyone here give a rat's a** about how YOU did with anything? OMFG.... :russian_roulette:

huh?

He first got to #1 in 2012...which he still was a Titleist staffer if I am not mistaken. So he has been atop of the WGR with both companies.

I just personally feel that majority of his consistent golf came with Titleist clubs in his bag. His win total is very similar but he seemed to me a more consistent player under the Titleist clubs. Not to mention he was the top amateur in the world with their gear in his bag.

Just my opinion on Mr. Mcilroy's equipment selection

Yeah, you're correct about getting to #1. Sorry about that. Okay so lets talk consistency. That's cuts made. Finishes, and money list (shows the quality of the cuts made)

3 of Rory's best 4 years were with Nike. You're entitled to your opinion. But empirically it doesn't hold much water. :)

And this got me to thinking. How does this compare to Tiger. Lol... it doesn't cept for # of majors. Check it out...

We really gotta stop comparing guys to Tiger...lol

Making cuts is really a good standard for a world class player like Rory or Tiger. Their standard would be top 25ing or top 10ing depending on the field. If your a top 10-25 player in the world you shouldnt be missing more than 1 cut for every 10 events played.

He sure is playing pretty solid in the elements today. It is funny how everyone bashes TM putters, yet the Spider Tour is the best selling putter in my store, and has tremendous tour use, even for players that are not TM staffers. TP collection putters are pretty good IMOP as well.

the bashing comes from the fact that you will be able to buy a mint spyder this time next year for $39.. its a fad pure and simple... il admit ive looked at them several times ..but that convinced not to make the leap.. you can sit down 4in front of yourself and find 2 that sit way open and 2 that are dead shut... never couldi see 2 that were identical in any store ive looked

The TP's are quite nice. I've got a Soto and like it a lot. TM did a great job with the feel of the insert on that line.

Update for you all on Rory this week at Royal Birkdale...

You're correct, he plays the TP Juno...he put this in play during the final round at the Travelers when he shot 64.

He refreshed his 54 degree 11 bounce MG wedge this week (needed fresh grooves) and also added the TP UDI 1 iron (16 degrees) when he arrived at the Irish Open (ready for 3 links events on the bounce - Irish, Scottish & The Open). Took out the M2 Tour 5 wood for this week and replaced with the TP UDI (FYI: 23 x TP UDIs in play this week at Royal Birkdale).

Off subject but does anyone know if Tiger's deal is for 13 or 14 clubs?

Picturing the Big Cat aka GOAT with a TP putter almost makes me hurt on the inside...

You don't see him using a Sunday Red Spider? :cheesy:

I think I just died a little on the inside.

Why doesn't he get a black Scotty Cameron with no paint-fill like some of the other Taylormade staffers. He could probably do the same thing with the wedges, some black vokeys with no paintfill then use a paint marker to make it look like a TM like Zach Johnson did with his driver a while back.

Rors looks like a magician with his Juno TP today.

Yeah, he putting excellent today.

Because he's finally back to an anser style putter just like the one he designed with Nike, the B2-01...and not any of that Spider nonsense.

you mean just like his original scotty.....the nike was designed after his scotty, and now this....he tries other things but in the end all his clubs are very close to all his original titleist equipment

Isn't his TP putter pretty much retail?

the insert is very different

Thanks for posting on here TM. "TP UDI (FYI: 23 x TP UDIs in play this week at Royal Birkdale)." Sorry for changing the subject of thread but since it was brought up. Why was this club discontinued to the public?

How is the insert different? Just curious.

I stand corrected. I chatted with TM on their web site and this is what they said.

Says the guy that likely works in a cubicle that probably will never get a first person glimpse of Rory's clubs. I'm sorry man, but that's like trusting a call center representative.

Oh, can you appreciate the irony in this post? Let's put it this way, if you can go to any pro shop and buy 2017 M2 8.5 stated loft, 2017 M2 Tour 13.5 and 19, Rors Proto Irons, or a 48 9 degrees of bounce Milled Wedge, I'll cover it for you. That includes any shop in Norway (where you state you're located) or the U.S. The 2017 M2 Tour 13.5 is available at retail in Japan.

Maybe you should take your own advice before posting snarky replies? ;)
