Ping G400 Driver Shaft - NEW ALTA CB - anybody heard anything about it?

I'm interested if anyone has heard anything about the new ALTA CD shaft made for the Ping G400? See below only specs from Ping website (not a ton of detail):

 

Soft Regular 53g High Regular 55g Mid High Stiff 59g Mid X-Stiff 63g Mid

 

 

What makes it counter balanced? What is the torque? .....etc

Yeah I'm interested too since I want a high launch shaft and it looks like the only option is tha Alta senior.

My driver SS is 120mph and I hit the g400 with the stiff Alta shaft and it was actually really good. Held up great and launched perfect

I took a demo LST with the Alta CB Stifff today and it was pretty nice. I swing 110 and it held up. Launched fairly high bu. Definitely not low. Dispersion was pretty good

Worked for me at demo day. SS ~ 100. Unfortunately they didn't have an Xtorsion shaft to try. The Alta was sending everything straight and high. The tour shafts were dead pull hooks for me.

Anyone know how the Alta CB S would compare spin wise to the Kuro Kage Silver 60S that is available. I have the KK ,seems spinny, or maybe spin is too low, ball kinda falling out of the sky. I need to get a monitor tonight

The Xtorsion Copper is also a CB shaft. It feels much tighter (not to be confused with much stiffer). Dispersion was better, as were ball speeds. It's a steal for $60 extra as it's likely a $300+ shaft at retail

Will do. It was uncanny how straight the stock SFT/ALTA combo was for me. Even if it inst maxing out distance the dispersion was so much better than anything else I tried. I brought my M2 with a Pro 63 TS shaft and Veylix 573 and wasn't hitting it well with either shaft. Tried the tour shafts and the ALTA in the G400 and SFT heads. The SFT/ALTA combo wouldn't go anything but straight.

 

Hopefully the straightness continues and I can tweak the loft to not lose distance.

I used the stock stiff alta cb in the SFT for the first time yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Was a very hot day so I need some more testing but first impression was very good. Felt great -- still a little high for me but that is probably my swing. I too am curious about the tour 65 or 80. I'm sub 100 ss 5 hcp hitting it about 240. Would the tour likely launch lower?

the xtorsion that we got to review here is not the same version they're selling in the upcharge. the TX we got to review is the tour version and has higher quality materials and is a bit lower spinning and more stable.

 

still a great shaft none the less.

My opinion is that the Alta CB is just a slightly softer/lighter Xtorsion. Ping won't specifically say that, but in conversation it sure seems that you can infer that. As soon as I got my G400 I threw my Ping Tour 65 in and didn't hit the alta. Yesterday I cut an inch off the Alta and gave it a test today and I was hitting straight mid height drives. I was completely shocked. I did not add any weight back to the head. Swing weight dropped from D3 to C8, so it certainly stiffened the shaft up a bit. It is a very quality shaft and probably just saved me a ton of money.
