Pilgrims Run - What a course

Had a chance to play Pilgrims Run today and it's an outstanding track. The wife and I took advantage of their $27 couple twighlight deal. $13.50 for 9 holes cannot be beat.

 

Things you will love about the course

-price (very reasonable)

- practice range - outstanding facility

- the options and strategies you have while playing the course

- bunkers and sand ( high quality )

-scenery is amazing with no houses on course

 

 

This is a must play and an outstanding course to start your Northern Michigan excursion.

 

This is a top 10 public course in Michigan in my opinion and Devries & company did a great job designing it.

 

My only knock were the greens were a bit slower than I expected. I played Island Hills yesterday and those greens were blazing fast

I also played it recently for first time on a hot deal on golf now for $45. I always thought that it was probably overrated being in top 10, but really enjoyed it. It has perfect conditions, and reminds me of Jones Masterpiece or really good North course. I really enjoyed #16 where you can try to carry over water of tee to reach by green.

Isn't that 18? Not to be pedantic...

 

Played PR a few weeks ago. Very nice place, shame it's so far out of the way. although perfect if you're heading from GR to points north....

It might be, they made us start on back nine so we did not play them in order. I looked on scorecard before posting and thought it was 16.

It is definitely 18.

 

16 has water in reach off the tee and down the right hand side for the approach shot. It is probably the toughest hole on the course.

I really enjoy this course. I will agree that the greens are stupid slow. I wish they were faster. Next if I was them I would switch the 9s. The last two times I played I started on the back and I really liked this routing. I would hate to finish on a drive-able par 4 like 18. 9 is a great finishing hole

i played in PR last year, it was pretty nice.

not that close to Grand Rapids but definitely worthy.
