Who's sick and tired of the next best threads? poll included

consider this a rant if you must:

Can WRX mods or the general populous think twice about posting/allowing threads that include whether or not the next player to win a major will do the following:

- Pass Tiger/Jack

- Win 50% of every tournament from here to eternity

- Have money troubles

- Eat chicken or steak for dinner

or, if someone DIDN'T win a major will do the following:

- be the first person on the 'best ____ golfer to not win a major' (insert with youngest, oldest, short game, driver, etc)

- take up a second profession when their golf career is done in a season

- date a denny's waitress(es)

i ask this as someone who's been here for some time --

Please, think about what you're going to post and ask yourself, "in a week, is this really going to matter?" or, "if someone else posted this, would i a) roll my eyes or b) rethink their mental capacity?"

this is 50% in jest, and 50% serious. (those numbers might be balanced differently)

i can appreciate the humor since at times you cannot do anything else but laugh. while i appreciate quality speculation with supporting facts -- there are waves of threads that pop up after majors that are just ridiculous to post about.

What else would we talk about? This thread makes me think golf forums aren't for you OP. We come here to have conversations and debate, and engage in banter. If you don't like that and are only here for club reviews or information the other sections of the site, or others like m y g o l f s p y contain all of that material without the sort of chatter that goes on in the forums.

And if it's not that that bothers you just don't click on threads you don't find interesting. Personally I'm not really into the best player of all time across eras debate that often comes up on here, but a lot of people really like it, so I just don't enter those threads.

thrill - i completely understand golf forums, and the discussion. i also believe that speculation can be a great thing - when the discussion lends itself to it and there is real world data to support such things. perhaps you're right in the sense that i shouldn't read things that i think are ridiculous. understood. been on here for plenty of time engaging in discussion in both equipment and in the tour talk arenas -- i know discussion can be and usually is healthy. i'll heed your advice and just ignore it from now on.

apologies for anyone that might've been offended and/or put off by my OP. it's been an observation i've made and others have noticed it as well - noting it in respective threads.
