Going "the full Vijay" setup

I'm giving the Vijay bend your irons all a full club weak set up a try and I'm wondering if anyone has an idea how I can relabel them?

Without ruining a set of sticks maybe you could do something with paintfill? Make yourself a legend to go by or something for the different colors.

and less offset. Maybe he wanted a set that looks like it has "zero offset"

I've always thought the perfect set of irons would be a muscle back with basically no offset and a ship load of bounce. I can't afford a full custom set of irons but I sure can bend my current set really weak to get less offset and more bounce.

I like this....I wouldn't have to build a special jig like i would to stamp the sole.

Seems like it is just playing clubs 1/2" over, keeping roughly stock swing weight but with more bounce than stock. Head size is shifted a bit too. Generally there is more offset in longer irons so making a 7 an 8 would make his 8 play with more offset wouldn't it? I do this my long irons - went 712 U 3 and 4 iron and bent them to strong 4 and strong 5 irons and since the rest of my set is about 1/2" over it fits in nicely.

I will be hard stepping the shafts but effectively not hard stepped at all ie: bending the 3 to 4 iron loft therefore putting the 4 iron shaft into it keeping it at standard length. You're right the head size will be shifted but as far as offset goes the difference in offset on my irons between 7 & 8 (as an example) is .007" yet every 1 degree weakened in loft reduces the offset by roughly .029"so a 4 degree bend will be a big reduction albeit still a very small measurement.

Typically, I would end up circa D6-D8; would rather be D2-D4. With my Modus 130 shafts at 5/8 over I am getting in my favored SW range because they are high balance shafts; but, S300's or PX I would be into high SW.

 

Cool idea, thehotsauce! I may go 3-9 iron next set, tweak lofts to get PW-strong 4, enjoy extra bounce and some nice swing weights.

So, I've done this exact setup.

 

I took a set of MP-32's and bent them all a club weak. It got rid of the offset, gave me more ° of bounce on each iron (needed for my course conditions), hard-stepped my shafts, and allowed for *almost a DIY/dirty MOI matching set, once all the gobs of lead tape were applied. 3-Pw became 22°-50°, exactly the lofts I play now with 4-Gw, and darn near the lofts El Tigre' has played his whole life.

 

So why am I not playing them anymore? Well, I'm simply not good enough to play blades right now. As my ball striking improves, perhaps I'll revisit them.

 

And how did I get around the numbers? Well, I just hit my 7i ~150yds and didn't think much else about it. But, if needed, I would have stamped them on the back or the soles, much like VJ.

Lighter heads, to start with. A 7i spec head will have a lighter gram weight than an 8. He's bent the 7 to play as his 8.

 

So if someone wanted to play a longer length set and keep the swingweight down, this is an option
