Graphite design shaft questions

Hey guys

 

My gamer is a Tour AD DI 7s in TM R1 head. Love the feel but launch and spin is a bit high.

 

So I picked up a Tour AD BB 6s and just couldn't get along with it. Felt extremely difficult to load the shaft.

 

Is there a GD shaft that offers the "feel" of the AD DI but low launch and low spin characteristics of the AD BB?

Both launch and feel come from the bend/stiffness profile of the shaft. Everyone is a bit different in their sensitivity but typically you can't change one w/o also changing the other. If you like the feel and want to change the launch - do it with a loft change instead of a shaft change.

Thanks Stewart. So to experiment, I am going to take the DI 7s that I installed in my fairway wood and put it back into my driver. Granted, it'll now be tipped 1/2" and play at 43.5". ?

If it's tipped it may not feel the same as before (or untipped) but you never know until you try.

 

And (depending on the specific model fairway you had it installed it) it will likely play about 1/2" longer in the driver head then it did in the fairway head.

Agreed. Hopefully not much changes.

 

Had it installed in my x2 hot FW and butt trimmed to I think 42.5" IIRC. So in the driver, I'm thinking it'll play at 43.5".

 

Just waiting on the TM adapter I picked up from eBay to arrive.

More likely it will play somewhere between 42.75" and 43" in the driver. You might want to order a shaft extension too. The only way you'd get a full extra inch in the driver is if the fairway was a bore-through head (which the x2 hot is not).

Bingo. Went through the same process and landed in a TP 6 after playing both DI 6/7 in driver. It is not going anywhere soon.

I try to play the lightest shaft possible while still keeping dispersion down. The TP was so tight overall that I didn't need the 7.

 

I enjoyed the DI 7 more then the DI 6 because the dispersion was much better in the DI 7 over the 6. Just felt the TP 6 gave me a little more pop then the TP 7 without having to overswing.

 

I do drop down to 80gram DIs in my 3 and 5 wood though for that added control and feel of weight. Had much more success going heavier in any DI model I tried.

Ah, perfect. I gamed the DI 7 and liked the dispersion. I e read that the DI 6 in same flex felt like a noodle with dispersion all over the place.

 

I too would like to keep weight down (just switched from steel shafted irons to graphite recoils) ???
