quick help on weight add to Spider Tour

Just got my 34" Red Tour. It has the stock 2g's in place. It is too light. I have added in layers of 1"HD 1/2" led tape to both wings. 8 pieces per side or at 10g total each...I think. Definitely heavy. Is there a better way to do this before trying to find weights?

 

Second question, since I only have Cally's and their wrench doesn't work, is there a Home depot solution or am I going to have to find a TM wrench?

 

Third question, anyone know the weight of the stock TM grip, it needs to go. Probably the Golf Pride or the Flatso if I can get over the graphics.

Callaway wrench works just fine on mine.

 

Not sure why so many people seem to want such heavy putters. Weird to me, but whatever works for you I suppose.

Thanks Suits. Jag I have 4 four new Cally wrenches, only tried one and it didn't work. Will try the other 3. As far the weight, the search for best results is a personal thing I guess. Stock its too light for me and just look what works as you say

Yep. Whatever works with the weight. I can't putt worth a cr@p so I certainly don't have the secret.

 

Regarding wrench. I have ghost spider slant neck, itsy bitsy plumbers neck, and black tour spider. Cally wrench works on all of them. Of course that makes sense since the weights are all the same design.

 

I have a couple 12 gram weights that I bought off the Bay if you end up liking your experiment. Too heavy for me.

 

PM me if you want them. I Can't remember what they're worth. I'll take a peak on the Bay and see in case you want them.

Well 4 for 4 Cally's are consistently too big for the weight. Maybe because I have a red you have a white??

Totally Bizarre. All the weights are the same in all the taylor putters I have.

I have two different Cally wrenchs and they both work in all of my taylor weights. Let me know if you want these. I tried them in my ghost spider and went with 8's at 33".

Those opening appear a lot larger than mine. TM also said any wrench but it doesn't include by SZ one for sure. Thanks for the offer, will keep in mind. Going to start heavy tomorrow and peel back. Other is issue is going with a larger grip will screw withe feel as well. In no hurry

The regular TM wrench that I use on old R7 425TP and M1 driver does not work on the stock 2g weights so you'll need a smaller sized torx wrench for those. I tried replacing with 6g weights and it was too heavy for my liking. The putter felt dead and distance control was horrible.

AKH i just cut 1" pieces and applied with masking tape. Right now its at 10g on each side and that just feels like a sledgehammer. Easy enough to peel back each layer.

I can't leave well enough alone. I played the merry go round with my SZ. After two weeks went back to the way it came and hitting it just fine. I miss the old days when you played the way it came, you had no choice.

Well the results today ran out and played a quick 9, over 80 already ready and soaked. Settled on 6g as best feel, Jag PM coming.

 

I am a poor putter for real. Course built in 1902 with all bermuda and the greens are the same as the PGA/Quail Hollow, just not trip cut.made 3 10 footers, lagging is a bit rough, inside of 3 foot auto [very rare for me]. The feel is fine with 6g taped on, putter just sets up square.

 

Now to find a bigger grip without the electronic billboard look
