Project X LZ what flex?

I'm a 6.0 player all day in the original Project X shaft. In the LZ should I stay in 6.0? The research I've done here says stay the same or go up .5 flex. What is the consensus now that many of you have been gaming these the last 9 months or so?

Other question is not about flex but about profile. Why do you want to change to a soft mid shaft? it is the opposite in feel.

Personally I can play 6.0 easy but like 5.5 better. In LZ I would pick the shaft on the weight and then hardstep or soft step if neccessary.

Echo same as above. The two have completeeeeeeelly different feels to them.

 

Why don't you just go get fit? Unless you can grab a really good deal, buying shafts blind is often a poor idea, unless you specifically know what you need.

Dynamic Gold X100 softstepped 1 X was my shaft forever. Getting older and not playing as much I want to go a bit lighter and softer. S300 is softer but not lighter. I have been playing the AMT X100 softstepped 1X and they just don't feel right. I feel like I have tempo issues in the mid and long irons.

 

DG profile is not overly stiff in the mid section so was interested in trying out the LZ. I have hit the Modus 120 X and liked it.

You'd probably fit into the 6.5's, but that doesn't mean it's "softer" per say. It's got a kick point in the middle, instead of by the handle. The tips are likely of comparable stiffness, but I don't know the cpm's.

I have always disliked the feel of PX. I absolutely love the LZs. I too was a DG X100 ss guy and the 6.0 LZ fit me well. I would say the LZ 's feel softer/smoother than original PX but the manufacturer says stay in the same flex.

I second this! I play the LZ 6.0's now and love them but do think they feel softer or more lively/active than the originals.

 

Might want to considering set the PXi's...they fit between the two IMO!

Modus 120 X is a great shaft. Played it right from the introduction and for a long time.

Earlier this year I tested severely between PxLz, TourV S, Modus 105x, $Taper. I chose $Taper in S.

I am a 6.0 guy and stayed with the same flex in the LZ and have been very happy. Feel is so much better but the performance is very similar. I went to AMTs when I bought my 565s but I still have a set of LZs in case I get tired of the AMTs.

I am not overly concerned with flex, have played everything from S300 to C-Taper 130x over the last 4-5 years, all worked fine.

I have the 5.5 flighted in some 745s, the 5.5 in some 695 mb, and the 6.0 LZ in the 716 AP2. I find the flighted to be a little lower flight but more penetrating and the regular 5.5 and LZ to play very similar overall. The LZ do have terrific feel but they seem to launch a little high for me, not a bad thing just not quite used to it yet. Dispersion is great in the LZ but I think I like the weight of the 5.5 a little better. If you are playing the 6.0 now, you could do the LZ in the same or maybe even the 6.5 and be fine I would think.

Good question. I remember that chart, it also had the 6.5 SSx1 at 6.6. I would think they would be slightly less, but doubt it is much.

I was also a 6.0 in standard Project X and now play a 6.5 in the Project X LZ's. I'm sure I could've gotten away with the 6.0's but I like the added weight of the 6.5's.

 

For reference I've played Project X 6.0's, Nippon Modus3 130X's, Nippon Super Peening Blue's (personal fav), DG S300, KBS Tour 120's, and now LZ 6.5's.

I played px 5.5 in my old irons and when I was getting fitted for my Mizunos I was in a 6.0 in the LZ.
