I'm happy to hear that in regards to 16, that is the worst hole on the entire trail in my opinion.

 

My concern is they go too far with the greens like they did at Olmos.  They can put the holes in some areas where the greens become almost unputtable.  And on some greens the downslopes from the fringe to the green are way too severe. I missed the green by about 5' to the right of #4 and the downslope was so severe that even with a putter I couldn't keep the ball within 15' of the hole.

I played it yesterday, quick greens! Wow. Had to play for everything at the front of the greens since they didn’t check very well. Some did more than others but played it on the safe side. Shot an 80 with 6/18 greens hit. Yikes! 
 

I’d definitely play it again. I liked the back nine better than the front though. Good thing I didn’t bring my carry bag because you CAN’T walk this place lol

Nice, I'm just glad they are redoing the Par-5 16th at Riverside. That hole was always a mess.

If the tee box for #17 is where the current green is for #16 and they don't move the 17th green it sounds like that may be a short driveable par 4 like #14 at Olmos??

I agree but have no other details.

 

My vision was to move 16 green back toward the tee just across the water and make the approach all over water. That would be roughly a 445 yard par 4 and then you could put the tee box for 17 off to the right and push the green back for a 345 yard par 4. 

That would be what I would do!

Looks like my intel was a little off. Tee box for 17 is actually in front of the current 16 green in the old approach area. New 16 green is directly right of the pond in the old 16 fairway. Google earth puts 16 ~420 yard par 4 and 17 ~315 yard par 4 from tips. 
 

I’m curious if they’ll change the routing of 16, otherwise that’s still gonna be a dumb tee shot.

I would think if they cut the trees at the corner of the lake you can put the green just on the other side of the water, maybe 50yds short of where it is now..that leaves a 100-150 shot over the water??? May be interesting.

The Golf Trail just tweeted a plot showing how the changes on 16&17 will look at Riverside. 

 

Doesn't give specific distances but big changes on 16.

So the 16th green will be before the dogleg ?  The 17th tee box will be on what used to be the 16th fairway just short of the old 16th green?

That's what i'm seeing...I'm guessing 16 will play around 380? unless they find some way to move the tee boxes back which if i remember correctly there was about 50yds or so they could go back but that might be too close to the 15th green.

 

Im interest in how long 17 will play..JBirdie said he heard it would be a short par4.

How are the courses looking up there? I might play tomorrow if courses are in good order. Don’t mind the heat much since it’s hot no matter what. I see the Quarry looks like it’s in good shape currently.

Cedar Creek looks pretty good from tee to green but haven't played it in a few weeks. They sanded the greens around 10 days ago but didn't punch them so they should be good by now.

Cedar wasn’t in the best shape last week greens wise. Olmos and Brack were good. 
 

Haven’t been to Quarry, but I do know both TPC courses are in fine shape. Oaks punches Monday.

Played Cedar this morning..fairways were good..greens were pretty good as well (except for the usual rough edges on the usual greens) but they were a bit slow.

Looks like most times in the AM are pretty booked until around 10:30-11 at most places. 
 

My buddy and I were looking to get in 36 - tee off some where at around 8-9 and then again around 4-4:30.

Has anyone played Tapatio Springs in a bit? We're likely moving back to Texas within the next year or so and that general area is the most likely landing spot. Seems like a good deal for membership pricing.

Cedar Creek closing in January for a full renovation. 
 

Rebuilt but not redesigned greens, rebuilt and not redesigned tee boxes, fixed fairways and #18 fairway is being fixed permanently. 
 

also…water features coming back. Stay turned on which ones as I wasn’t told this detail

Great to hear about Cedar. I hope they can make some small changes to speed up play on the Back 9. I think fixing some of the fairways will make a big difference. And by fixing, I mean just taking some of the slope out.

Hadn't heard this but look forward to the improvements.

 

Amu specifics on what changes to the fairways will be taking place? Definitely think leveling out the fairway slopes on numbers 13, 16 and 18 will help pace of play.
