Played cedar on thursday and the back nine again this morning...greens are back in real good shape...just need a little more speed.

Anyone play Tapatio recently?

Have not played Tapatio. With I10 traffic it’s almost an hour for me. I’ll go back when it’s back to a 35-40 min drive.

 

I played Silverhorn, Cedar, and Brackenridge this week.

 

Horn is 9/10, only complaint is they keep their greens collars wet so balls plug. Greens smooth and nice.

 

Brack is 9.8/10. Only minor complaint is select tee boxes are a little barren, as usual for summer.

 

Cedar Creek is 9.2/10. Only major issue is greens are slow. Fairways are plush for this time of year.

Agree with J_Bird on Cedar...greens are healed from the punch last month but still not their normal speed.

 

Found myself playing Riverside this week and greens are really lush, and slow. Fairways are a little burned out in areas but nice overall.

Played Willow Springs today. It's in good shape, greens are a little low but true. I would say 8.5/10. A cutters paradise out there.

Weekly J Birdie course updates

 

Brack: cross cut Monday. Was rolling great by Thursday. Some bare tee boxes that don’t get sunlight otherwise great.

 

Cedar Creek: Played front 9 today. Greens are good again. Rolling at a fair speed and not slow. Fairways and tees great.

 

Riverside: bare spots here and there, slow greens.

 

Palmer course: they’re fixing bunkers! Not all done yet but some high traffic ones are. Still bad on 14. Greens are cross cut but running amazing. Fairways and tees are great.

I played cedar this past Friday. Course is in good condition. Greens were rolling well but some spots still look horrible. 7/10!

I played on Legendary Oak Hill CC this weekend and im in awe with the beauty of this course and country club. I can see why this has hosted so many PGA Tour events and Senior Tour events as well. In fact, on Friday, I was told Jimmy Walker and Cameron Beckman were playing at Oak Hill to practice for the upcoming season.

 

Conditions were perfect, greens were absolutely insane in terms of speed, you could barely touch the putter and it would go 10 feet past the hole, maybe too extreme (for pros would be awesome I believe). As a Bonus, I was 6 inches away from a hole in one, on #2, from the tips.

Brack needle punched yesterday. San Pedro was in good shape yesterday. And yes Oak Hills is nice as hell. Very nice after the re-grass but from what I understand they are still at risk of going under

Brack is recovering from needle punch. So so.

San Pedro greens are still great

Mission Del Lago greens are smooth and FAST right now.

Silverhorn is a smooth but a little slow

Resort Course at La Cantera is OK. From tee to green the course is in really nice shape. The greens are bumpy and not what you would expect from a $100 course, but definitely not bad. The guys I played with said they have been this way since they were redone a year or 2 ago and the Palmer course is better.

Only issue I had with Resort after the redo was the greens didn’t bite/hold. They rolled great when I played though

Played Cedar Creek yesterday and it is in excellent shape with the exception of a few wet spots from the hard rain we got on the course Thursday night.

 

Fairways were green and lush...greens were in great shape and running fairly fast.

Carnage at Cedar Creek! Greens are fast for the championship this weekend and not one player in the field shot under par today. Cedar in perfect championship form.

Palmer in really good shape...greens were rolling true and FAST....played in the afternoon when wind was kicking up pretty good, managed to scrape out a 77.

Played Palmer for the first time this weekend. Shot a 78 with three doubles. Really like the course. Has some blind tee shots, but no blind approach shots. Plays a little longer than the card says, especially on the back nine. Generally speaking, left is your friend as there is a lot of trouble right. And better to miss the green short than long.

 

Greens were in good shape and very fast depending on slope and grain. The bunkers, however, are washed out with very little or no sand per se. Mostly just dirt. The only bummer of the round...

 

But I'd play it again. It made "the approved list."

Resort Course was in fine shape last Sunday

Brackenridge was in fine shape, albeit slow (from their usual) greens

Willow Springs is in the best shape I’ve ever seen it personally. Greens are great!

Resort course greens were slow Thursday when I was out there.

 

Brackenridge greens are immaculate and fast for the championship this weekend. Jump on it for a twilight this afternoon or play tomorrow for some exquisite putting surfaces.

As a kid in the late 60’s early 70’s I played Brack and Olmos Basin. Is Olmos still around or that now Quarry?

Olmos is still around. It’s a sneaky tough course in tournament setup. Brack has been completely reverted back to its 1916 design in 2008. It’s spectacular.

Popping in to say hi. Played Tapatio last week for the first time. Very good condition. There’s really only one goofy hole. #13 is a par 5 that requires an iron off the tee because of a dogleg left with a hazard that is not easily carried. Greens were good. Fun course.

Also, found out that both Canyon Springs and Quarry will be regrassing their greens this summer. Installing a better variety of Bermudagrass and herbicide resistant Poa annua issues.

Not surprising considering they were the two big name courses to lose their greens in the last 2 years.

Played Vaaler Creek last week. Couldn’t get the speed of the greens but course was in terrific shape. Definitely worth the drive a little to the north.

Anyone know why cedar creek decided to flip flop the nines? I know this was the original routing but preferred the previous routing.

Only thing I can think is that they have better visibility of the first tee from the club house.
