This so stupid. You want more people to play golf, get rid of these stupid dress codes and social regulations.

Im a golf pro. When i play munis wuth my buddies i wear normal clothes, probably not golf shoes, and listen to music. If im playing Cypress Point, im wearing nice RL polo golf shirt, vest, pressed pants, and clean icons.

Well then what is going to separate the well dressed crowd, from the trying to keep up appearances crowd from the dregs of society?

We need "some" rules, Santiago.

Play quickly, fix your ball marks, fill your divots, have a sense of humor and park your temper with your car. Do those things and I don't care if you are wearing a Speedo (although if that is the case you can have the cart and I will walk).

As a Nike fanboy, I can admit that some of Jason Day's Nike looks have been a little over the top. The painted on schemedium shirts are a bit much. I'm still getting used to him wearing Nike gear. The polo buttoned all the way up in that ad is a weird look. Joggers aren't going anywhere anytime soon though.

I saw this come through my email today from the PGA Superstore, and I couldn't help but think, that most here on WRX would roast this guy if he showed up at the course dressed like this:

You roast people for how they dress? :swoon:

Generally speaking no. If he dressed like that on the golf course.. I wouldn't care. If he showed up like that to a big board meeting, than perhaps.

It's not really a "golf ad," it's more of a lifestyle ad. He looks to be in a concrete urban environment, not on or near a golf course. This outfit would not be allowed at numerous private tracks - hat on backwards, no collar shirt, joggers - etc. From what I've seen, joggers have flopped. But their target demo is probably young and more of a public course player. They would love to have you wear their gear outside of the golf course. That is the goal with this ad. Wear our gear when you are going to school, the gym, or running errands - i.e., situations where the chicks wear their yoga pants(?)

As someone else said, the trend is nearing the end. Can they possibly make the pants and shirts even tighter? The sleeves shorter? Push joggers again? Perhaps, but not much more. Where are they going?

Agree. I've never seen anyone dress like that on a course. I've seen people dress in T-Shirts and Levi's at a couple muni courses near me but never like in this JDay ad. I think its an attempt to appeal to a large, urban market like NYC, Chicago, SF......

I see H.S. and college golfers going for this look, even the younger tour guys but Day is a bit old to wear such an outfit. I really don't care what people wear as long as it's conforming to the clubs dress code but it's not a look that would work for me.

not a fan of the new nike style.... especially on JD lol... he looks silly... should've kept with adidas/taylormade.... he looked/played better

So since JDay is still playing TM clubs as he has for years you are putting his lesser performance this season on the Nike clothes he now wears? If that's so good grief. This place continues to jump the shark hard on a daily basis.

I honestly don't care what these guys wear but will say that Day does look a little silly in this outfit. It would better suit a high school kid. Actually my son is in high school and has already stopped wearing the joggers.

On another note I realize that Day rakes in millions to wear Nike apparel but was wondering what lower level journeyman types or even Web.com players get for wearing Nike? I see alot of them sporting it too but am guessing they don't get paid alot other than getting free clothes and shoes?

If you are fit and can pull of joggers and a modern fit shirt...have at it. I wear more fitted and I know I look good. How do I know? Your wives are checking me out in the clubhouse.

Old guys, stick with telling us young good looking bucks to get off your lawn. Keep on with those pleated baggy slacks and polos with sleeves below your elbows. Don't let anyone tell you to upgrade from your flip phone either!

It looks like a back to school ad, with a final touch of backwards ball cap to get all the old farts fired up.

Ah yes the dregs of society wearing nike golfwear on and off the golf course. 60+ pages of Nike apparel discussion and somehow this forum STILL things joggers and a backwards hat makes golfers with some assemblance of a more modern style dregs. The dregs of society wouldn't want to be anywhere near your stiff a** anyways.

Nike is trying to sell their clothes to an imaginary customer.

When was the last time you saw a runway model walking down the street?

They couldn't figure out how to sell golf clubs, why should we think they can figure out golf clothes?

Ya. What do those idiots at Nike know. Their market cap is ONLY $94 Billion. Tell them to let me know when they get a real market value!

I mean. I never see anyone in Nike golf clothes. All the cool guys wear callaway gear like Phil. We all want to dress just like him. Ya. That's the look. Solid baggy pleated pants with mismatched polos. All to help cover up our 40" plus waist.

Not something I'd wear (51) but looks like something the 20 something's would wear. It just seems NIKE is trying to appeal to the younger generation when the golf population is an older crowd.

Love this!

It's comical all the flack this is getting and that it inspired it's own thread. Apparel changes and evolves. Most of you don't seem to grasp that concept. Do you dress the way your father did/does? I'm not going to "roast" you for looking like a donkey in an oversized polo with sleeves down past your elbow and pleated, baggy pants.

Also, this is an advertisement. Dramatized and edited for effect. I believe this particular ad was shot in London. Any of you been to Europe and seen how people dress over there? And yes, this is appealing to the future of golf.

I'm not even a young kid. 40, but still fit and trim. I like the European/modern slim suits and like my clothes to be fit a little slimmer on the course as well. I've got a buddy a few years younger than me that dresses like an old man - pleated baggy shorts and oversized golf polos. People routinely assume I'm significantly younger than him just because he dresses like a frumpy old man.

To some, the ad makes a fashion statement.

To each his own, I guess.
