Best player irons with some technology help?

Looking for a player iron that has some technology help. Not a pure player blade and not a pure game improvement head.

 

What would your top 2 player irons with some technology help be?

 

Currently have TM PSI Tour Forged. Love the smaller look, thinner top line, and lower offset. But not sure if a little more technology / forgiveness may help on off center hits. You do need to catch them in the center of the face.

Sounds like you kind of already have what you're looking for. The P790s and PXG 0311Ts have some "technology."

TM no longer makes PSI. Swapping out shafts and while at it thinking about the head. Not sure if I should have went with the standard PSI versus PSI Tour Forged thinking maybe they would be a little more forgiving if I don't catch it in the center. Just learning about the TM 700 series. Heard PXG are good but extremely expensive. Seems P790 are getting good reviews. Thanks for help.

+1 if By "technology" you want a one piece forged CB with just some tungsten in the lower irons to help with MOI, these two are your best bet in my opinion.

 

If by "technology" you want a frame/face insert design I'd recommend Titleist AP2 or Srixon 565.

Nike Vapor Pro Combo. Weight plug towards the toe makes them very forgiving and solid.

Cobra has plenty of solid options in this space as far back as the Amp Forged. Nike Vapor Fly Pros have literally all of the tech in a pretty compact, sexy package - if you can jive with the looks anyway - and if you can find them.

Never played callaway but the apex tour looks like an option. Anyone play these?

 

I may have misused the word "technology". Looking for a players club but on the more forgiving side on distance loss when struck a little off center but still can shape it.

I don't think there's such a thing as irons that can't shape the ball so you should have plenty of options.

I don't know about technology in them but love JPX 900 (latest model) and actually I guess would fall into technology PXG any irons

Both of these sets are medium-small, a fair bit of CB weighting, and a spring face for distance.

Ditch the PSi Tour and get the regular PSi - they are phenomenal irons to say the least. If ones ego can survive not having an all-forged set (might be tough on this site), these irons will do the trick: they are very forgiving, long, and have a great feel. I got rid of the Tour version early this year, dabbled with some other forged heads, but ultimately realized the PSi could not be beat and put them in play with zero regrets.

 

Too bad TM doesn't produce them any longer, but you can still get the KBS-shafted parallel-hosel sets on their site (or eBay) inexpensively: link. Glad I have two sets now since I have no interest in anything else. So many great reviews and articles out there on the web as well still.

Edit: Bought my second set of the PSi irons (with the tapered bore heads) through GolfEtail - they had a lot on hand and when you sign up for their e-mail, you get 10% off the first order. Better deal than getting them through TM. Mine was the 4-AW set, which was even better.
