Me too. I'm wondering if the finish is the issue as to why most of the balls that have it seem to be lower spinning models.

I tried the Vice Pro Soft with the Matte finish in white... I love the look of the matte but they get dirty sooooo faaaaast. Not sure if its the same with all matte finishes.

I have the vice pro soft lime and agree. The amount of dirt they pick up is 2nd to none. I haven’t noticed the same dirty effect with the Maxfli red matte and Volvik Vivid. Might be a Urethane deal with the Vice ball.

That’s it wasn’t sure exactly what it was called. My buddy plays the matte volviks so I gave it to him. Looks like it might be a a good bang for the buck ball. I’d prefer a lime color myself.

AS mentioned in some previous posts so far as far as matte finishes you have the:

 

Volvik Vivid 3 pc surlyn covered various colors (feels like a rock)

 

Vice Pro Soft (Lime or Red which is the only Urethane matte finish), nice feel but always out of stock

 

Maxfli Speedfli (only offered in red). 2pc Ball I believe but feels like a mid to high compression ball to me.

 

And now the Duo Soft which will have various colors and 29 compression. 2 pc Surlyn.

 

Also there is a rumor that Callaway will be coming out with a matte finish 3pc surlyn Ball that will be sold in 15 packs.

Red is already sold out. I think they'll do very well with these.

 

Dang it %^*#% I was just looking at these yesterday and didn't notice that about the red! I'd gotten all excited.

 

For whatever reason I really, really like the red matte finish. I wanted to like the Vivid but it just doesn't have anything going for it (for my game) besides the color. I love a soft feeling ball and was hoping to make this my winter ball.

 

 

Edit: OK looking again on the sale page the red are the only one's that say coming soon. Maybe that just means they aren't ready for even pre-sale yet?

 

Give the Vice Pro Soft's a try... they come in matte red and lime.

 

The only thing I didn't like about the matte finish is that they get dirty real quick... hopefully the matte finish on the Wilson ball will hold up better?

Thats very interesting. I had a dx3 urethane (uk branding) that sounded wrong and started flying erratically after about 4 holes. I suspected it was cracked internally and sent it to them to test. Never heard another word. Dont trust them now. Shame , great ball.

So odd to see a matte white golf ball. Looks like chalk. Will try to knock some around on Thursday. It's leaf season here so should interesting to see if they are any easier/more difficult to spot.

Pick up a box this morning at the PGA Tour Store. They had the white, yellow, green and pink in stock. No orange, red or white matte finish ones.

 

Went with the green, though the yellow looks really good. Really pops. In the summer when the grass is bright green, I think that would be the best choice.

 

To me, the green is the exact same color/shade as the green Volvik Vivid. I compared them side by side and I couldn't tell any difference.

 

In hand, the balls really look good. Love that the WS Shield is back on the ball.

 

The weather is crap here today, but it looks like I'll have the opportunity to get them on the course later next week.

Only complaint about the matte white is once it gets the slightest bit dirty it's dirty/dingy for life. Otherwise I'm very impressed with the feel off the club face, spin, and distance.

They're soft. Actually like the feel of them more than the prior generation model. Not sure if that has anything to do with the matte finish.

 

Not sure I would use them in the middle of summer but it has turned cold(er) here and don't mind something that's a golf ball that is a little softer this time of year.

thx, I have found the duo and softfli to be too soft. But, was curious if these were better in that area, as they have some cool colors. Good to know.

Thanks for the info. My store only had the yellow and it was dull like the normal Duo yellow. I’ll be gaming the green.
