Titleist AVX Golf Balls

Has anyone had an opportunity to try the NEW Titleist AVX Golf Ball? I've just now learned about this NEW Ball they are testing in California, Arizona and Florida markets selected Pro Shops. Love to hear some feedback or an opportunity to try a sleeve if someone has some they would like to pass on. Here is the lowdown on the ball specifications.

CORE - An innovative, high speed, low compression core results in a powerful engine to drive remarkable distance with exceptionally soft feel.

COVER - A proprietary GRN41 urethane cover delivers premium scoring control with exceptionally soft feel and long-lasting durability.

CASING LAYER - The high flex casing layer enhances speed and controls spin to promote even greater distance.

AERODYNAMICS - Unique 352 Tetrahedral Catenary Dimple design delivers optimal flight consistency on all shots.

Have played 5 rounds with the new AVX. Pros: It is soft, it goes a long way, it putts and chips very well and the cover is very durable. Cons: It looks almost exactly like a Bridgestone and is very expensive. The Chrome Soft spins more but is not quite as long as the AVX. What is going to do Titleist in is the cost. Pricing the ball like a Pro V when it's a competitor of the Chrome Soft is suicidal. Why pay $7 more a dozen to buy identical performance?

I am REALLY liking the AVX!

 

Long off the tee and irons, I can stop it on a dine from 6i to wedges, chips like my fave ball (XV), soft off the face on all clubs, durable, too, I might add!

 

However, at a Pro V price point I just can't fathom that. My XV does all of the above EXCEPT the soft feel and I stocked up when they were selling at $9.99!

 

I can't see the AVX surviving at its current price point.

Agree re price. I bought enough AVX's to last me in case Titleist dumps these after the marketing test. The ball fails only based on price. For the $7-8 difference, I like the Chrome Soft just fine. If they're the same price, I prefer the AVX.
