Pinehurst Weather End of May/First Of June

Looking for some local insight. Having never been to Pinehurst and always wanting to go, I went ahead already booked a trip for end of Feb 18'. Based on some recent family pressure (wife and kids fall break at the same time...LOL) Looking at moving it to end of May / First part of June.

I know the weather will be warmer, but how bad is the humidity? *I can deal with the heat since in a cart. Course conditions I am being told they are right after peak so will be good shape but wondering on aerification schedules around that time?

Booked the normal recommendations (Tobacco, Dormie, Pine Needles and Mid Pines).

Appreciate any feedback from the locals. Figure if I need to change it I should do it now....

Weather will be perfect. Low humidity, mid 70s. Most aerate in April 'round here. Come on down.

Nice timing to be in Pinehurst, weather could be anywhere from 70-90 degrees but usually cooperates. Check the web like golfescapesinc.com or the Village of Pinehurst for aeration schedules, they don't appear to be out yet for 2018 but with a predominance of Bermuda you will be fine. Played out in Vail for 10 days in June and really enjoyed the extra distance, hit the range and get a feel for the what you are hitting. The Cradle, short par 3, just opened and the Deuce has been open for a while. Bring a good bunker game for Mid Pines, Pine Needles even added some new in play bunkers. Enjoy you will have a great time.

Some good courses up around Vail. Really looking forward to the trip. Been to alot of places to play and Pinehurst has been on the list for a while. I have the 4 rounds planned (1 per day) but wife is totally fine if I toss in another round in here or there.

Wondering which one or two that would be.... =_)

Depending on where you are staying another round at Pine Needles or Mid Pines would be worthwhile. #8 and #9 at the resort are strong courses. Mid South and Southern Pines Golf Course are also good. Look up NC Golf Panel, it has the top 100 NC courses updated every spring. Good luck.

Flights + Car + Accommodations + House sitter all taken care of. So just have to show up and play. I have Mid Pines - Pine Needles booked. Still need to book TR and Dormie but waiting to see if I can potentially get on Forest Creek. I was informed it is a "must play" ??? If not will stick with Dormie and TR.

Really looking for forward to the trip, been wanting to do it for awhile and something always messed it up prior.

CCNC or Forest Creek are very good private courses each with two 18s. Must play with a member at both clubs. CCNC Dogwood course renovation is nice and the best of the 4. So many great courses in the area I would stick with what you have. Dormie is an interesting course with varying conditions.

Well I can get on but as you noted it will require me to play with members. Issue will be when I can play (tee time wise). I leaning towards just playing the 4 I have and go from there. If I can sneak another 18 somehow I will but will be dependent the on the "significant other" Looking forward to coming out there for a 4.5 days.

Looks like it is a 50 minute drive from/ to the airport. I would recommend Lonnie Poole if your looking for a close within 30 mins of the airport. Would just need more information to make sure depending on arriving/ departing flights.

It would be a very early flight in and late afternoon out. Was just asking from a trip prospective is it better to start or end with it. Was thinking of #2, #8, Mid-Pines and Dormie (if still can play) and/or Pine Needles for the other rounds.

All good courses you have listed . Can't really say if you should start or end with it. It is definitely a must play!

I set it for on the way out. Just a fit better but I could have done on the way down..

Figure I will be more rested when playing it then when coming in. Out flight out is around 7:30pm so playing around 9:30am then drive up (hoping 4.5/5.0 hr round). Estimate with drive time it puts us around the airport around 3:30pm so would leave some time for some GOOD BBQ... then to the Airport.

On a side note..... looking for recommendations for some killer BBQ on a Sunday in Raleigh? Obvious coming from Tobacco Road towards the airport. Also Is that going to be an issue? I know on our RTJ trail trip all the top ones where closed on Sunday.

Lonnie Poole looks pretty nice, wonder if I should try to sneak that in when we land as it says around 20mins from airport. Just have to get a pass from the better half on that one =)
