b. Touch the ground in the hazard or water in the water hazard with his hand or a club; or

He didn’t “touch the ground” with his club, as he wasn’t nearby, but his club DID touch the ground.

b. Above states, if you get rid of the other caveats, “Touch the ground in the hazard with a club”. The club didn’t get there on its own and a club looks to be treated differently than a rake.

We're permitted to place a club in a bunker. Leo's Decision (D13-4/21) says that throwing the rake is equivalent to placing.

Knowledge of the Rules is part of the skill set which a player must have to play competitive golf.

QEight-you've never golfed with Larry. My offseason strength and conditioning program is designed to lengthen the length of my club toss. In peak summer form last year I could get 84 yards out of a wedge or short iron and a very impressive 120 yards (all carry) with any wood in my bag. Club throwing goals for 2018 are simple. I need to gain 10% on my best tosses. So this offseason it'll be all about fitness AND technique. Most Club throwers don't practice enough to develop solid and repeatable technique. Most club throwers are not named Larry. Im committed to excellence and wouldn't be shocked if I gain 15% raw distance this winter.

(Sorry-there is no golf in sight here and I'm bored).

I haven't got enough clubs to test this properly, but I would have thought the wedges and short irons would travel further than the woods. I guess since you specialize only in club throwing, you may have had your woods custom made to achieve those distances. Also are we talking laser measured or gps ? And is this on the course or the range...everybody knows range clubs don't go as far.

Switch to TaylorMade. Their clubs go 15% further.

I focus on RPM when throwing clubs. I like to see them spin horizontally. Like a helicopter.

This today. I couldn't find any penalty let me know.

Player chunks his 3rd shot about 50 yards into a bunker. After the shot, player tosses his wedge forward that happens to land in the bunker.

Any penalty?

Thanks.

Apart from anything else, how could that ever be a test? What could you possibly be looking to learn from your club landing in a bunker 50 yards away?

I have found the turbulators on the Ping drivers enhance distance on drives heaves.

And I guess that I would be the Bernhard Langer of club throwing, since I use a relatively unorthodox (altho, not declared illegal by the USGA) method for distance.

if I get enough requests, I might post a video and include lasered distance readings, since I haven't found a sim that will provide me with the proper numbers

If it was intended as a test, it would be a test.

But absent that bizarre notion (seeing how deep a gash the club left in the sand?) I agree and note that you may throw your entire bag in a bunker in anger without penalty. Just don't do it for the wrong reason!

Not everyone goes for distance. Some go for finesse.
