found langers TM raylor 3 wood form the famous 92 masters bag

found it in a goodwill in jax fla. not a real common club and I consider it a piece of wrx history. at least in our corner, we had fun commenting and trying to correctly id all the clubs in that really cool witb photo that made its way into several threads . I always thought it was a founders club judge but was corrected. is this the club in that famous pic?

I think Langer's win was 93 not 92. Couples won in 92.

 

I have a club like the second picture. I believe this was the original Raylor. Up until this season it was my go to fairway; had it in the bag since new around 1990. The one in Langers bag looks a little bigger to me, like maybe a System 2 ,

I also havnt been able to correctly ID that exact raylor either. it does look bigger than the common one. the one I recently found is a system 2 and its not it. the mystery goes on. I took the system 2 to the range and it hits a ton. good club

yes, this one is 100% correct. you can see the one in Bernhard's bag also has the 2 large rails, and "Raylor" on the toe.

 

FWIW the "System 2" you pictured previously has a solo one right in the middle. and quite honestly they were junk compared to the orginal few Raylor.

I found his Wood Bros Texan driver ! Bernhard Langer was the last player to win a Major Championship using a Persimmon driver.. The 1993 Masters. I spoke to him 2 different times recently about his Wood Bros drivers, he loved them and said he "has about 12 of them".

goes with out saying the Texan is the most famous in that photo. I am lucky to have one in my collection. never hit it yet. had the Wilson irons but could not hit them out of my shadow so I sold them. for some reason I am always drawn to that raylor and will get that model sometime along the way

The Raylor does look really cool, I have never hit one. I should get one too. As you may know I have a set of 1984 Staffs made for Langer. Ones in the photo were 81 or 82 model I believe. I also own Langers 1st Texan. Will pay a pic tomorrow

Typically guys were dumping the likes of a 5 wood or 2 iron out of their bag to use the particular one shown below.

You are right Kenny, my dad bought the 16* along with a 9.5* Pittsburg persimmon and 2-SW of the Tour Cleek irons brand new in I think 1984 and played that 16 until the early ‘90’s at which time I snagged it and played it for probably about 5 years! It was such a great club from any lie...

I still have it in the garage by the way and the last time I had to reshaft it I put in a 7.0 rifle shaft...tells you how long ago as I can’t come close to handling that board now, LOL!

Langer won the Masters in 1985 with a Joe Powell persimmon driver, John Powell told me this in his Sarasota shop a few years ago , then around 1986-87 went to a TM burner but switched back after about 1 to 2 years to a Wood Bros Texan and won the 93 Masters with a Texan. I will post a pic of his 1st Texan today. He used persimmon I believe till about 1995 maybe 96

I also found a unusual possibly rare tour only burner raylor . its orange small headed and has a x shaft with tour label on the shaft as well as the head . langer marched to a different drummer when it came to his clubs which is refreshing in this day of endorsments. sorry cant even find a pic of the tour burner raylor on the net. found the ti verson but mine isn't that one

Eye 2, I think. The Staffs are stamped to look like the '78 to '83 Tour Blades/Fg17s - but the shaping of the back muscle looks too flat to me and I have to think they're a custom grind.

that is great you had the elusive so it seems orange tour buner from dottie pepper no less. glad some one else has seen one too. I have hit mine and it preforms well but would fit me better at a less than x flex shaft but that would ruin its "tour cred" so it will remain a keepsake as is. great that we are getting some further entertainment from this old langer witb photo again
